Long-nosed Planthopper (Dictyopharidae sp.)
The long-nosed planthopper was taken by me in the bushes near the paddy fields. "Longnose", reminds us of the legendary story of Pinocchio. But, surely it doesn't have bad habits like Pinocchio, who is good at lying.
The color is very unique. The face and thorax have a mix of colors; green, brown, and red. It has short antennae that appear on the underside of the head below the compound eyes.
This is the planthopper Dictyopharidae sp. in the suborder Auchenorrhyncha. This species was first described by an Italian entomologist, Maximilian Spinola, in 1839.
The long-nosed planthopper is one of the destructive pests that often invade important agricultural crops.
