Lynx Spider: Intelligent Ambush Predator

in Beauty of Creativity3 years ago

Hey, Beauty of Creativity lovers! Happy weekend. Today I have some macro image frames that I want to display here.

This is a lynx spider that I captured in the bush not far from my house. I thought she was a female. I could tell by her bright brown pedipalps. That's what distinguishes males and females. Yes, males have a pair of strikingly dark pedipalps. Another thing that distinguishes it from the male is that the female abdomen is fatter, while the male is smaller. Lynx spiders do not build cobwebs because they live behind leaves, and they are known to be intelligent ambush predators.
