The first day of the 1st innings of the third Test between India and England was played today at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. On the first day, the English batsmen collapsed in front of the Indian bowlers.
England were all out for just 122 runs. Meanwhile, Indian bowler Axar Patel has kept his name high with 5 wickets in a row. Axar Patel took 5 wickets in the 1st Test in Chennai and then at his home ground Motera.
Axar Patel picked up 6 wickets for 38 runs with the help of England batsmen. Legendary pacer Mohammad Nisar and spinner Narendra Hirwani were named.
These two Indian bowlers had a record of taking 5 wickets in the first two Tests. Nisar made his debut in June 1932 and in December 1933 he took five more wickets in the second Test of his life.
Hirwani made his Indian debut against the West Indies in 1988. Hirwani took 8 wickets in two innings in that match. In the second Test against New Zealand in the same year, he took six wickets for 59 runs, the same day India won by 172 runs against New Zealand.
Meanwhile, Axar Patel took 5 wickets in 1 innings in the 1st Test in Chennai. He took 5 wickets in his debut Test as the ninth Indian cricketer.
And in the 1st innings of today's third Test, the England batsman fell again for 112 runs on the strength of Axar Patel. Apart from Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin has also taken 4 wickets.
