Random Poem's by Phil - Get in the Boat, Fish: The Fisherman's Refrain
I haven't written a poem since I was in high school, as the following will surely show. But, today I was bored and feeling random, so without further adieu...here it is:
Get in the boat, fish; your day is here.
You see my bait a coming, nothing to fear.
The water feels tight; your lip feels snagged.
You twist, shake, you fight as you veer.
Get in the boat, fish; your day is here.
You brace for the worst, receiving the bad.
Until the moment you're back in the water.
Now you're just glad.
No worries, no worries...nothing more to bear.
It's on to your brothers or sisters; undoubtedly, who cares?
You all will be caught.
You all will see the end of my line.
Now get in the boat, fish. Your day is here.
—Poem by Phil Hughes
One of my biggest loves in life is bass fishing. The video below gives a more in-depth look at that species. Here in America, these fat-little beauties give a good fight if you're into fishing, and a good dinner if you're into eating them (which I do not). These are the fish that inspired the poem above.
