Breadfruit, who doesn't recognize this fruit with its distinctive shape? Yes, breadfruit is indeed very familiar to the Indonesian people. This shrub is very easy to find on the side of the road or in the yard. When it's in season, you can find a lot of breadfruit hanging from one tree.

The fruit is round and green, with a rough texture. Be careful when picking it, because the sap produced is very sticky and difficult to remove if it sticks. Breadfruit is usually processed by steaming or frying, then eaten immediately.

But where I live, there are also those who process it into dawet, and also porridge. The way to make breadfruit dawet is the same as making dawet in general. However, the breadfruit is boiled first and mashed, then mixed with flour and various spices, then kneaded. The dawet sukun dough is then boiled until the water is absorbed. When it is cooked, the dawet sukun is then made using a special mold. Unlike the usual dawet which is green, this one has a very attractive pink color. Usually my mother uses liquid palm sugar, not forgetting the coconut milk that is poured into the glass.

Not only delicious as a variety of dishes, sukun certainly has hidden properties that are beneficial for health.

  • Then boil it until soft

  • While waiting for it to boil, prepare the lime

  • Cut the lime and squeeze it in a bowl, then set aside

  • Check the boiled breadfruit, if it is cooked, remove it and drain it

Wait for it to cool for a while, then put it in a blender container

  • Add lime juice and a little water

  • Mash it at medium speed

  • Finally, pour it into a bowl
