RE: Open Letter to @pocket-change: You Can Be The BIGGEST CHUNGUS of them ALL!

in Steemflagrewards5 years ago

This guy is one of several who we have called out for leeching/milking the rewards pool and then goes on a crusade against us for violating them. He's not even brave enough to do a new post on his main account i in case we flag it. I only flag to reduce unearned rewards or some cases of spam and really nasty attacks on people. He is free to vent his opinions, but may not find much support. The mood of Steem has changed. There are bigger fish doing similar things, but we tackle those where we can have an effect. It's up to the community to decide if they want to help us out.

Sort:

Hate to say it but I think these people are on a race to the bottom and taking us for the ride.

They don't care about what we care about, @steevc. It's a bummer but seems time is the revealer of people and their true intentions. I am concerned that it may not be too far off when nodes start getting unplugging due to the constant dowmward pressure and cost to run. We will eventually hit that point unless something drastic is done.

We just a plan to preserve this place and out work. Obv I can't run a $200-$600 a month server the way the blockchain is designed.

But i think we get all post data, all comment data, and all balances, a snapshot if you will. Migrate that data to a pristine chain but old post/comments in some sort of cheaper storage medium (regular ol magnetic drives).

I think this place can survive the flood if you. Or SMTs make some difference.

In either scenerio, we oughtta hope for yhe best but ALWAYS prepare for the worst.

We do seem to be treading water with just a few thousand active users. Steem is a minnow in social media. The low price does not help, but we need some tipping point to get real growth. That may be some influencer joining up and selling the idea of Steem.

I think the accounts milking Steem like this guy are a small minority, but we obviously see a lot of them. That can give a from picture.

It would help retain people if there was less automatic voting to fixed accounts. Those who want to automate should follow a decent curation project that actually seeks out good content that deserves more rewards. You might make less from curation that easy, but we need what is best for Steem if we want really big profits.

Keep the faith!

That's a damn good idea, @steevc. I don't want to be the late voters so I may devise a script for that. Gonna get @slobberchops chops bot back up first. I should be easy. Just a matter of taking code I have in other scripts. Pull a Dr. Frankenstein if you will.
