Giorno otto.
Mia stella del mattino, oggi è il primo giorno che provo una sensazione di sollievo da quando sono recluso qui. È trascorsa solo una settimana da quello che dicono le mie incisioni sul muro, a me sembra sia passata un’eternità dall’ultima volta che ho respirato una boccata di libertà. Stamattina mi hanno recapitato le tue lettere, a quanto pare le accumulano e le distribuiscono un solo giorno alla settimana, comunque quando le ho ricevuto sono riuscito a stento a trattenere le lacrime di commozione sapendo che, nonostante ciò che è accaduto, tu rimani al mio fianco; comunque non posso mostrarmi debole qui dentro, quindi ho dovuto trattenere i goccioloni che stavano per sgorgare. Appena il corriere se n’è andato mi sono gettato sulla mia branda e ho iniziato a scorrerle una per volta, riga per riga, parola per parola, prestando attenzione ad ogni singolo tratto della tua sublime grafia e, anche se improprio, mi sono eccitato così tanto da eruttare nelle mutande. Ho provato un po’ di rabbia scorrendo le tue lettere, perché le maledette guardie durante la verifica del contenuto delle buste ha rovinato parti del cartoncino su cui hai annotato i tuoi pensieri, le tue frasi così dolci che mi hanno commosso e le tue parole di conforto che hanno avuto l’effetto desiderato.
Oggi Ruben è uscito dall’isolamento, non sarò più solo qui dentro; lo so, è un giudizio avventato, l’ho incontrato solo un giorno, è una persona pericolosa ma sembra nasca un’intesa tra i compagni di cella che supera la semplice amicizia. Una volta che la scorta se n’è andata gli ho dato il bentornato alla nostra cella. Inizialmente è stato taciturno e scontroso, lo posso capire dopo una settimana passata in solitudine, senza poter rivolgere parola ad alcuno, con la sola compagnia dei suoi pensieri, in un certo senso abbiamo passato la settimana allo stesso modo. Dopo molte ore, il pranzo e l’ora d’aria, abbiamo ripreso a parlare da dove ci eravamo interrotti. Mi ha spiegato in generale come è organizzata la gerarchia dei carcerati e chi dovrei frequentare per aver vita facile in queste mura. Spero solo che il mostro della prigione non mi inghiotta prima che riesca ad uscire dalle sue fauci. Muoio dalla voglia di rivedere la luce, la luce dei tuoi occhi che si riflette dentro i miei e insieme risplendere nel buio della nostra camera da letto.

Day eight.
My morning star, today is the first day that I have had a feeling of relief since I was imprisoned here. Only a week has passed since what my engravings on the wall say, it seems to me an eternity has passed since the last time I breathed a breath of freedom. This morning I received your letters, apparently they accumulate them and distribute them only one day a week, however when I received them I could hardly hold back the tears of emotion knowing that, despite what happened, you remain mine side; however I can't be weak in here, so I had to hold back the big drops that were about to gush. As soon as the courier left I threw myself on my cot and started scrolling one by one, line by line, word by word, paying attention to every single part of your sublime handwriting and, even if improper, I got excited so much that they erupt in their underwear. I felt a little anger by scrolling through your letters, because the damned guards during the verification of the contents of the envelopes ruined parts of the cardboard on which you wrote down your thoughts, your phrases so sweet that they moved me and your words of comfort that have had the desired effect.
Today Ruben has come out of isolation, I will no longer be alone in here; I know, it is a rash judgment, I met him only one day, he is a dangerous person but there seems to be an understanding between cellmates that goes beyond simple friendship. Once the escort went away I welcomed him back to our cell. Initially it was taciturn and surly, I can understand it after a week spent in solitude, without being able to speak to anyone, with the only company of his thoughts, in a certain sense we spent the week in the same way. After many hours, lunch and the hour of fresh air, we started talking from where we left off. He explained to me in general how the hierarchy of prisoners is organized and who I should attend to have an easy life in these walls. I just hope the prison monster won't swallow me before it gets out of its jaws. I'm dying to see the light again, the light of your eyes that is reflected in mine and at the same time shine in the darkness of our bedroom.
