Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 69:How long did it take you to unravel who Father Christmas is?
Hello beautiful friends, welcome to my blog. It feels good to be experiencing the greatest season on earth which is the Christmas season. A season filled with joy and laughter. Most especially, it is a season filled with sharing of gifts between friends, lovers and family members.
This contest takes me back to when I was much younger. I was always happy when it is Christmas period but once I see the Father Christmas, my mood changes. I become very scared and sad because the Father Christmas looks scary and as a baby, there are some factors that put that fear in me.
At some point, I began to grow old and the fear of Father Christmas in me reduced drastically because I now understood that they weren’t demons but people like us.
I remember a crazy encounter I had with a Father Christmas. I went to a Christmas party with my mum and when it was time for receiving gifts, I stood outside the Father Christmas room until it was my turn. But I noticed that every child who enters the room will come out crying. That was when I began to get scared.
How will it be if I go in there? I started asking myself and when it was my turn, I got into the room but the moment Father Christmas asked me to come forward to get my gift, I became very scared. I screamed and my mum who was outside waiting for me ran inside to see what was going on.
Immediately she realized that I was crying because of Santa Claus, she burst into laughter and helped me collect my gift.
When we got home, she then lectured me about the story behind Father Christmas.
I was told that the story of Father Christmas revolves around a man, St. Nicholas, who was known for his kindness and compassion. St. Nicholas, the Greek Christian Saint imbibed the act of giving and sharing gifts most especially to children. When people realized how much this man shared gifts, they began to inculcate the habit too and that’s why Christmas season is a period for sharing gifts. Now, we can successfully say that St. Nicholas has brought about the culture of sharing gifts in every Christmas season.
That’s the story I was told by my mum and I made my research to know that she was right. That’s why so many people dress like the real St. Nicholas during Christmas so that they can present gifts to children. What a nice culture we have imbibed? That’s a good one and I wish we all a merry Christmas in advance.
I’d love to invite my friends @ubikool @rossnenye and @joan-na to share their thoughts about this contest to us all.
Hola apreciada amiga. Gusto en leerte. Ciertamente hay niños que temen a ese tipo de personajes incluyendo los payasos. Que bueno que pudiste comprender las cosas a corto tiempo. Bendiciones para ti
