The Diary Game || 3-7-24 || The Unfortunate But Successful Lunch Launched/Attending an Award Ceremony

You may be quite puzzled hearing the words lunch, award ceremony and unfortunate with puzzling pictures that aren't really matching. I'll spare the details as it was one of the best events I've ever attended in my institution as a student. There's this saying Allow school to pass through you and also pass through school. I was allowing school pass through me as I barely have time for activities like this.

I would say it was such a rich Lunch, Launch, and an award ceremony to remember. My shared pictures may be overwhelming but you'll enjoy every slide starting from how I left for the venue.

Arriving the Venue

The time for lunch was slated to commence by 10Am but it was quite unfortunate it didn't commence as expected. Unforeseen occurrence made good grounds of the event. Some of the contestants had tests that morning, some lecturers had revision lectures and the likes. A well known professor in my department came thinking he was late only to notice the event hasn't commenced and that there were lots of people waiting.

It was quite unfortunate he doesn't like waiting. He left to return back later in the day. My friends and I took pictures by the Banner which reflected what we came for. I forgot to capture the order of events but the ceremony was introduced by the chairman who lit up the event with his composure.

The introduction of some dignitaries in the department took place as they came in in their numbers. Dignitaries from other faculties were introduced as well even the SUG president honoured the event.

Purpose of the event	The event was held to award important dignitaries in my department [SESA] and other faculties, for a lunch lecture that would create an impact and for the launch of the department Magazine.
The Event is dated	3rd July, 2024

The MC was really a hype man I must say. The event was filled with good energy as people trooped in and seats reserved for specialities far and wide. The president, examination officer and the Staff adviser did introduction proper and also told us how lit the event would be as we are covered by the department president. He is known for his **good deeds in bringing balance into the department and creating an atmosphere where units can be united in love.

The Unity Dance [Contestants

You may wonder what contestants has to do in the event. It was an award lunch and they'll be a crowning and handing over of offices and these contestants are contesting for these. The titles includes;

Face of SESA [Boy and Girl]	Mr/Miss SESA

Normally, it's supposed to be an award night celebration but was reconsidered to favour the dignitaries that were invited. There were 8 contestants, 5 girls and 3 guys. The did their first unity dance together and was applauded by the audience. They also did their introduction, stating their intentions.

The ladies did their best in dancing but the guys stood like stick without shaking their bodies. Though the DJ didn't do well, everything was in place not until the contestants left the hall to pour out their frustrations. There was serious arguments and confusion among some royalties. It almost involved a fight and insolent words made the positive energy become negative.

It got to a point where **some dignitaries left the event because of the disorderliness and confusion on ground but guess what, this department covered the mess in seconds and we were brought back to the spotlight of positive energy.

Cultural Display

The cultural display was lit. I can imagine how much money they spent to rent these costumes. My first choice of someone that would win for ladies was this lady with orange traditional attire. Her composure and discipline was just too much. Her energy was rocking too. Others did their best in displaying with different cultural attires, presented before the judges to make their selection.

The following are pictures showing how beautiful they looked in their cultural attires and how gracefully they danced. Up next was a rounding off lunch lecture by the examination officer of the department who took her time to bring things up and also maintained that positive energy in the hall. Her lecture was mind blowing. Since it was a lunch lecture, people were given lunch to take as they hold hungry stomachs to sustain them till the event came to an end.

Award Ceremony

As the president has few weeks to leave the office, he created this avenue where people can be awarded in the department and this was made possible as a result of this event. He gave awards to the best of the best and some dignitaries and important personnel in his regime.

It was of great honour to see the ex president honour the event and also gave their speech while the award was still ongoing. I was super excited to see this young man after some years of faithful service in the department. A magazine of which the department has entitlement to was launched. The best I've seen any president do. He created an impact.

It was high time for the main award of contestants and these contestants came out beautifully dressed and appeared before the judges. My eyes couldn't just leave the scene because they were all rocking. In my mind I was like, how did these people get do much money to purchase wears like this. It was too exclusive especially the lady on Orange velvet and blue. The guys were also outstanding but I could say less of them because they weren't really creating an impact.

The former Face of SESA and Mr/Miss SESA took their bow as they handed the mantle and crown to the contestants who won. Guess what? The unexpected contestants won Mr/miss and Face of SESA. No one actually expected they could win especially the girl on blue. Her makeup was discriminated and mocked at but there was she being crowned Queen.

It was such an honour though. What made them win wasn't just about their looks but personalities doing what they knew how to do best and also their smiles. I never knew the winners could smile not until they were crowned. The fair ladies though they did their very best were in annoyance that after spending so much money on their attire and costume. I felt their pain though and it was at this award ceremony I knew that beauty is in the eyes of the holder.

The event was just so memorable and I learnt a lot from everything that happened there. Photographs were taken by these dignitaries and other students as the case may be. It was quite unfortunate the lunch had lapses but it got launched successfully. Such a tie.
