My Neighborhood Watch #79 - Reporting Events Around us

Introduction

Hi friends, welcome to my blog. I'm excited to inform you about the things happening around my neighbourhood.

Like I've told you before, I live in a neighbourhood where there are about 5–7 schools. That's why I follow up with school events and news so well.

For the past one week, I've noticed that these schools have been having end-of-the-year parties. On different occasions, I've seen pupils and students of some of these schools dressing in Christmas colours because that's what some of the schools require.

The Event

Yesterday Monday, 16th December, my children's school, which happens to be where I work, had their own end of the year party. It was all beautiful attending the event as a parent and also as a teacher. You can say I functioned in a dual capacity, yeah!

Due to the situation of the country, pupils and students were asked to dress well and not necessarily in the usual Christmas colours. According to the School Administrator, parents should not be charged to avoid unnecessary excuses. She said it was just for children to come out to have fun with their friends and so, parents weren't invited.

However, the event started with an opening prayer which was followed by presentations from different classes from the preschool, basic and the high school.

The children had fun doing their presentations, they also answered quizzes which came with prizes from the MC who was one of the teachers from the school. Apart from that, the children also had free dance sessions and competitions for different sections and ages. The most exciting of all for the children was the Santana clause, as it went round dancing, touching and sharing different gifts to the children.

The staff of the school weren't left out, they were given the opportunity to dance in different categories. It was all amazing because it wasn't a time to shout, give warning or pass any instructions. It was a free day when both the learners and the tutors were free to move along without any issue.

The party took about 2 hours or more, it was followed by sharing of refreshments, closing remarks and issuing of results to the learners and then, it was time for departure.

In my capacity as a teacher, I gathered my students and gave them words of advice to be of good behaviour as they'd be at home during the holiday. In the end, we hugged ourselves, and we all headed home.

I left with my children, who were so excited about being at the party. I mean I watched my two-years-old dancing to every bit of music played at the event.

I couldn't help but laugh out, it is actually a case of "like mother like daughter" always dancing.
