Hello dear Friends...
Greetings to you all my amazing friends, hope you are all good! Just like I'm...
My name is @ibraheem76 from Nigeria I'm so delighted to participate on this brilliant and heart touching contest titled: "What I would do better if I can travel back in time" organized by @lhorgic in this noble community. Before then, I would like to invite these great personalities to also participate on this beautiful contest @dave-hanny, @ruthjoe and @goodybest.

What are the things you think you should have done better.

I should have developed a valuable skill and expertise (Technical skills for that matter or any kind of trade), while or before my first degree program.

A good paying skills acquisition like, graphic designs, cyber security, digital marketing, programming etc should have been my target or priority before acquiring my degree certificate, but reverse is the case, there was no one to guide me on choice of carrier neither going to acquire skills i.e plan B.

Though my Dad is late, he died when I was young, didn't get a chance to know him, and I technically grew up in a hamlet, my Mom on the other hand she's neither educated, but she plays a vital role for my academic success, achievements and to the Man I'm today, (a graduate B.Ed Educational management).

How long did it take you to realize you missed that privilege or opportunity to do something better and how did you feel.

Literally it took me some years before I could realized I've missed it in life, because it was when I was about to graduate in my first degree program, before I realized, hand work, trade or skills pays much better than the certificate, especially if your skills is marketable, too demanding in the society, mehnn your phone go burst with credit alert.

Just when I thought all is over😭.

So when I was on my final semester last year December, I began to pounder on life after the university, no skills as options B, indeed I feel so so bad, and frustrated, even as I'm writing this contest right now, the frustration has become fuel up again, because life is not funny here in Nigeria, when you finished school and after serving your father Land(NYSC) without any connections, no godfatherism and no skills or any kind of trade to fend for yourself, brother you are back to square zero. So I can of feels so pity for myself and heart broken because I have so many responsibilities waiting for me.

Give advice to your reader who might be treading at the moment the same path as you.

To my fellow steemians and friends who by coincidence or chance happened to read through my post, my candid advice to you all is that, certificate isn't enough.

In a digital society where we are today, try to learn a trade, acquire skills or anything you called it, before schooling or during schooling, brother, attach some values to your certificate, because society of today is not after your certificate but what you can offer, (options B), another thing is that, Incase certificate does not put food on the table immediately, but at least you will have something to hold on, before white collar job or other opportunities comes your way.

Nigeria my country today, is filled up with millions of graduates today in every corner, majority with nothing to do (skills) like me. So learn a good hand work or any kind of skills don't repeat my kind of mistakes. Seriously if I can travel back in time, I would learn a trade, develop a valuable skill and expertise while schooling or before schooling.

Thank you all for reading through my blog, I love you all friends.

Kind regards @ibraheem75.
