According to Wikipedia, "the name Nigeria is derived from the Niger River flowing through the country, the name was allegedly coined in the late 19th century by British journalist Flora Shaw who later married Baron Frederick Luggard, a British colonial administrator".Link

What Are The Mineral Resources your country is Blessed With |
---|
Minerals/Natural Resources are the natural material found in nature that are used to create many products for human usage. Thus, Nigeria is blessed with rich mineral resources. The resources are scattered across the country and it is found in every states in Nigeria. These resources have been a significant source of revenue in my country.
Below are the many mineral resources in Nigeria...
_Crude oil/gas...this can be found in all nija-delta states like Akwa-Ibom, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Abia states. Crude oil is used for the production of electricity and fuel while gas is also use for the production of electricity, heat for cooking.
_Coal... this can also be found in Enugu, Bouchi and Benue states.
_Iron Ore...can be found in Anambra, Bauchi, Benue, Delta, Edo. iron ore Can be used for the production of steels.
_Lead& Zinc... are used for the production of batteries, alloys and more industrial products and it can be found in Anambra, Abuja, Akwa-Ibom, Abia, Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Enugu states. Limestones, Gypsum, Kaolin, Dolomite, Clay, Bentonite and many are all mineral resources in Nigeria.
Nigeria my country is bless with many natural resources like Cocoa, fine Timbers and Bamboos which can be used for constructions, furnitures and papers production. We also have many rubber producing trees known as "Focus Elastic".
This rubber producing latex can be use to produce medical gloves, balloons and the seeds can also be use to produce oil which inturn can be use in producing soap 🧼, paint, vanishes and insects repellant.
Indeed, Nigeria is a country blessed with many mineral/natural resources.
Has these mineral resources been fully harnessed |
---|
I can say a big emphatical 'no' that these mineral resources are not fully harnessed in my country. Reasons being that, if it was properly harnessed, there would have been plenty of job opportunities, more private and government -owned companies. The truth is most of it (Nigerian) citizens do not even know what mineral resources is or where it is located. So I will advise the government in the educational board to include it in the students curriculum. The earliest the citizens will get to know which business to venture into. Also the government should privatized and give access to these mineral resources so individuals who are interested can venture into it and generate more revenue.
Has the proceeds from these resources been used properly by your government for the welfare of her citizens...support your answer (Yes/No) with good points. |
---|
To some extent yes, about 75% of these mineral resources have been used for the development and welfare of the country and her citizens. This is true because, if we look at the inception of the time we gained our independency to date, there has been a lot of development in the area of good access road, electricity, quality education, improved health-care system and more. Though we are still hoping for a better and improve life in Nigeria my country.
Conclusion.
Nigeria my country is blessed with many natural & mineral resources. Though we are still a developing country, I hope one day we will get to the stage we can bolding say we are a developed country.
