Hello, my wonderful STEEMIT; how are you all doing? How is the weekend going over there?
I am so happy to participate in this amazing contest titled The Lies I Grew up Believing; I also want to thank @steem4nigeria for bringing this amazing contest.

Please enjoy reading my post

When I was a kid, I was told many lies by my parents, even the elders that were living around us.

What were the lies you believed while growing up?

My uncle died when I was only 3 years old, and I loved him very much, so my mum called me and told me to clean my eyes so that my uncle would come to life after 20 years, then I cleaned up my eyes and kept on praying to turn 20 years soon, so when I was 19years old, I went to my mum and ask her mum am 19 years already, hope am seeing my uncle next year, she said yes and start crying, I asked her why are you crying, she answered that she has Missed my uncle so much, I just told her don't worry we will see him next year. ,

The next year came so fast that we went to cross overnight, hoping that my uncle would come and join us in the church by midnight sharp, but I did not see my uncle; I started crying and asking my mum where is my uncle.

What was your reaction after finding out the truth as an adult?

That day I turned 20 years old was the worst day of my life because I had been longing for that day to come, and it finally came, but I did not see my beloved uncle, so I was very bitter and sad when I found out the truth that my mom was just lying to me. I was in so much pain that I did not eat for two days.

Do you subscribe to telling lies to young minds in a bid to protect them, or do you choose to call a spade a spade?

I don't subscribe to telling lies to young people because lies might cause serious sickness, and they will be going through a lot of pain when they find the truth.

Like how I felt when my mum told me the truth about my uncle's death, that I am never going to see him again.

So I will just tell them the truth if it will hurt their feeling at the moment, but they are going to come over it soon.

Finally, I want to invite my friends to participate in this contest @simonnwigwe @josepha @suboohi
