My name is Onyemere Victor and I am presenting a manifesto to help shed light on what I intend to do for our great country Nigeria if given the opportunity. I am a law-abiding citizen who pays taxes regularly and with the growth of our nation as a template to guide my actions.
  • Users are expected to analyze the current state of the country.

There are many problems confronting our dear nation Nigeria and I intend to outline them with some possible solutions.
The most pressing problem in our nation today is security. We have heard of people kidnapped on a train, we have listened to stories of explosions in markets, and we have heard stories of cattle herders attacking communities and killing the inhabitants. There are two forms of security to be discussed and they are Natural security and Defensive security. Natural security has to do with hunger. When people do not have a stable source of income and for that reason, they don't have food, that is a problem. Anybody who is not sure about eating during the day is a security threat to society because they have become weapons for anyone who is willing to give them little food to eat. Things like this are the reasons developed countries do anything within their power to make sure that their unemployment rate does not go above 2%, but in our country, it is above 40%, which is a recipe for disaster. Talking about defensive security, the government should have a monopoly on violence. No non-state actor should be able to overwhelm the security forces of the country. The government has to strengthen the borders of the country to ensure that weapons are not smuggled into the country by bandits. I am ready to serve Nigeria in the capacity of the president and I can assure everybody that security challenges won't exist in Nigeria.

  • Why do you think you will be suitable for the position of president?

There is a very high level of unequal development going on in the country and as a result of failed leadership, the problem is rapidly escalating. Most people in the northern part of the country have access to very little or no education at all. For a society to progress, the majority of its population must be educated. Governing educated people is very easy as it enhances cooperation between the state and the citizens. I will ensure that new schools are built and old ones are renovated. 10% of our GDP will go to the development of education at all levels.

Talking about trade and investment, we should boost import and export activities through our seaports. There are six major seaports in Nigeria which are ONNE PORT, DELTA PORTS, CALABAR PORTS, PORT HARCOURT SEA PORT, TINCAN ISLAND PORT, and APAPA PORTS. Of all the ports mentioned only two are functional- Tincan and Apapa. This is really disgraceful. We cannot have six ports and just two functioning. There are over 200 million Nigerians and it is clear that we can't continue depending on the two ports that are already falling apart. My government will renovate all seaports and make sure they are functional six months into my tenure as president.

  • Identify the most pressing problems that you citizens are facing and try to proffer solutions to them

The development of the people is the most important thing and it has been neglected by previous governments. The numbers currently coming out of our country are nothing to write home about. We have a population of over 200 million and a GDP of $400 billion, approximately $1500 per capita, very poor. Our GDP growth rate is -1.81% meaning that we have negative growth. Our economy is literarily shrinking. Our Human Development index is 0.539, also very poor. We effectively live in a failed state and that is why I have come to change the narrative. My government will heavily invest in the people and in industries. We need to become an independent nation. We will focus on pulling families out of poverty so as to increase the standard of living of our people.

  • Do you have any innovations you are bringing in?.

Speaking of innovation, our soil and climatic conditions are different from that in the western countries where we import most of our agricultural equipment. I am lucky to have studied agricultural engineering and for that reason, I strongly believe that we have the capacity to design and manufacture equipment that meets all our pressing agricultural demands.

Conclusion

Growth is a continous process and we must never give up for any reason. The state of hopelessness is worse than death itself. I love Nigerians and I will do everything I have promised if given the opportunity to lead.

Sort:

which is a recipe for disaster.
Omg What a phrase, I agree with you Mr. president we can't have 6 ports and two of all are functioning,

Most people in the northern part of the country have access to very little or no education at all.

Reason behind the insurgency in the country,
God help us all
Nice publication

Thank you very much for engaging.

You have said meaningful things. You even brought up two important aspects which are sea ports and human development.

No doubt with you at the helm of affairs a lot of progress would be experienced in this country.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much for finding my manifesto meaningful.

It's a pleasure Sir
