Nigerian Steemit National Meetup - My Humble Submission

Waoh! How time flies. The glamours, the agitation, the preparations, the sleepless night for planning and finally the execution on the 30th of November 2024 have finally been laid to rest. The occasion was with all funfare and left all present steemians with lasting memories that may not fed away in a hurry.

Honors

To @ngoenyi, @goodybest, @benton3, @bossj23 and every other steemians in the planning team, I say a big congratulations to you all dear ones for not disappointing the clouds of Nigerian steemians wherever they are especially those who were far away from the state and could not make it to the meetup. This is because there may be those who may have taught that Nigerian steemians don't have what it takes to organize and hold such a glamorous occasion of that repute. To their greatest surprise, the pictures which speaks thousands of words are all memorably out there in the blogs of many steemians depicting their joy in their bright smiling faces for anyone to see, and of course, the Steemit blockchain which is a good storage of such information will hold these pictures for as long as the Steemit platform exists.

To the hundreds of steemians that grace the occasion, kudos to you all, I can happily say 'we did it'. You guys are one in a million person to reckon with that can form a formidable force, and I do hope you will do it again once the call goes out in the nearest future.

To the gift recipients, see it as a wake up call for more activities on the Steemit blockchain. Shine your light through your different post for others to emulate. Continue to be a reference point both to the newbies and the communities alike, you never can tell what the next gift or award would be. Remember, you never pick yourself to receive the gift, someone or group of people did choose you, so work to make the trust reposed in you a solid one.

After The Meetup, What Next?

The Meetup have come, hold and gone, successes have been recorded and documented for future reference, but the big question now is what next? The answer to this question may be provided by the steemians by way of contest, I suggest, but more than that, the answer lies within the community leaders. My reason(s) is based on my observations during the section of questions and answers on that day.

To start with, we all know that there are newbies who don't know there left from there right of the etiquette and conducts of Steemit. These may be largely as a result of not given proper orientations from their referrals who themselves may also not have been equipped with the necessary informations. Therefore, as they go about their post creation, we tend to see some of these lapses playing itself out, and at the end, when the post paid out zero, they tend to be discouraged and stop posting. I could recall one of the steemian who sat by my side (name withheld), she ask, 'what is steem, how is it use, how do you remove it, and stuff like that. From my understanding, even though @benton3 tries to explain to her, she wasn't getting it all. That is a case in point. What can further be done about it.

There were those who equally were disturb about their experience when they powered down. Understandably, @xkool24 makes some salient points known which I really appreciate his painstaking efforts to do justice within the shortest period given. However, I want to believe that everyone do not have the same understanding of issue. What will happen to such ones? Will they not still go on having a different opinion as to why should they not power down and use the steem they worked hard to gain for whatever purpose they deem fit? How will such issue be address properly is not in few minutes of explanations, could such information be documented in a post by the admins of the community or be use as a weekly digest under etiquette of Steemit? My humble suggestion though.

I recall a case in point of @bonaventure24 who came in all the way from Ekom in Cross Rivers to graced the occasion. From my little interaction, I deduced that he is the only active Steemian there. He may have tried the best he could to refer and sign up others, but the success still hides it's face in the dark on him. To this extent, what can be done or what modalities can be put in place to assist him and the Nigerian Steemit at large in harvesting a whole lots of steemians from that zone so that next time we have the Meetup he will not be the only one to be seen.

There are other observations I have but discretionary will not be better said here, however, to whom much is given, they say much is expected, I humbly challenged our leaders to still do more, to look beyond the horizon so as to better position the Nigerian steemian in a better position among the committee of other countries Steemian.

I really want to say, thank you all for coming out in such a great number which have enable me to meet friends like @kidi40, @alli001, @sahmie, @bonaventure24, @eveetim, @ninapenda, @jasga, @fortwis09, @tempestinyang, @bessie2023, @bela90, @patudoh, @eliany and her little baby Steemian, @jewel005, @goodybest, @ruthjoe, @okere-blessing, @preshy001, @misseyleo @nsijoro, @jozzie90, @johnmitchel, @imohmitch, @chiomi, @emishael60, @samuelnkenta, @basil20, @toflex, @realitytrend, @ubikool and a lots of others too numerous to remember and mention, please pardon me. The way you narrate what happened this day speaks volume. Even though I wasn't physically present, your narrations has made it so clear and open. Good to know you interacted with lots of steemians and benefited as well from the advice and encouragements given by the Nigerian reps in steem4nigeria community. Sincerely, they made the meetup a powerful one. Can't wait to meet you in person next year......

Dear @bossj23 I really appreciate your stopping by my blog and getting to see my take on the day's happening. I most say, I was impressed by your showers of gift to those worthy steemians, keep being a voice and a shoulder to lean on as well as creating a lasting impact on those you journey with. I also looks forward to seeing you anytime even before next year's event. Thanks and have a great day.
