Introduction
If there is anything I so much hate in life is being pointed at because of debt.
It reduces my personality and self esteem.
That is why I make everything possible to make sure that I pay off at a set time to avoid embarrassment.
Thanks to the organizers of this contest for us to learn from one another on this topic.

what is debt?
To my own understanding debt is borrowing money from someone to pay back at an agreed time.
As a debtor, you can not be free until you pay back as some debt can be in form of loans which comes with interest and will continue to yeild interest if you fail to repay it after the stipulated time.
Have you been indebted before? How did you pay back?
I have been indebted before to people because of need and I try as much as possible to make sure I pay back at a stipulated time.
If otherwise I seem to fail, I will have to Inform the person I'm owing before hand in order to avoid disappoinment then pay up next time without excuses because I hate to be pointed at as a debtor because of debt. And immediately I pay up, I will be very happy and comfortable with myself.
Have you ever regretted helping someone due to repayment approach from previous helpers? Share your experience.
Hmmm, experience they say is the best teacher and I have come to realize that those who refused to help people with cash are not hard hearted but because of what they might have passed through getting back their money.
There is someone that needed help from me some years ago and up till now that I'm writing this, I am not able to get back my money.
This friend was in trouble and needed help urgently and he called me and told me everything and I agreed to help because I am the type that will not close the door of help against someone because I know that I myself will need help from someone someday and suppose I don't have that help what will become of me? So I put myself in people's shoe to feel what they are feeling.
And today what do I get in return? Rejection.this guy rejects my call and even pretends not to see it. I send text messages,no way,get angry still it's not working. Talk peacefully,he keeps mute. Even when I had serious financial challenge and call him ,he refuses to pick my call or return registered missed call.
It's over six years now and I I'm still hoping that one day God will touch his heart to return my money.
I have had so many bad experiences with not just one or two people . And I regret it so much that at times I promise myself that I will never lend a hand again to someone because of bad experience.
These are the people that even have the money to pay back but still don't want to.
I have forfeited enough and it's only me that understands myself.

There are many ways to retrieve debt such as setting repayment plans that suits you, seeking mediation or getting a counselor to counsel you on getting the money back but I think the best way of retrieving debt is clear communication with the borrower.keep reminding him as time approaches and let him know why you need that money at that time
Do you think problematic debt should be forfeited for the sake of peace?
Because of human nature,we are living in a world where people don't have conscience again and are prepared even to harm their helpers by going diabolical instead of paying their debt, the best way will be to hand him or her over to God to deal with them or meet someone stronger than them.
