The Diary Game: Attending the final right and the burial of Anty Margret | 29/06/2024

Greetings dear friends,
It's a sad day for most of us as we had to lay to rest our dearly beloved Anty Margret today. Today is Saturday the 29th day of June 2024 we laid to rest one of our big Anty by the name of Margaret.

As a Catholic, the final rituals mass for her was scheduled to be hold by 9:00 a.m., in St Patrick's Catholic church here in Akwanga, Nasarawa State Nigeria. I wasn't able to go by 9 because I had a few work that I needed to finish before going out.

So immediately I finished what I was doing, I hurridly went to join them in the church for the Mass celebration. Due the the population of people that came for the Mass, the church became very full so I had to stay outside through out the period of the Mass celebration.

Immediately after the Mass ended, I joined a host of others to the compound of the deceased since here in this community, the heads are always buried in their compound. So before this time, they have already prepared the grave where they want to lay her inside.

When we got to the compound, the priest came and then said the ritual prayers that needed to be said before putting her in the grave. Also the families came as well to give their last respect to her. It was indeed a big lost to us all because she was still in her prime when she died.

Since I haven't witness how burial is done here in Akwanga because I usually don't attend it, I had to stay till the end for this one because the woman has always treated me as her own son too since we got to know each other.

I witnessed and also took pictures of the entire process on how she was buried. It was a sad moment for everyone around and a lot of people cried seriously knowing that we may never see each other again. I cried after remembering how close we were as well.

I was able to control myself and then take pictures of how the entrance of the grave was covered after laying her inside the grave. I tried as much as I can to witness the entire process till the end. When they were done with everything then I took the last picture which shows how they built and covered the grave.

It is important to mention here that late Anty Margret was the first born child to the family of my friend who is also a Steemian @dave-hanny and the sister in-law to @vickyson. They are both Steemians. I pray that God in his infinite mercy will give them the fortitude to bear the lost.

Immediately after the closure of the grave, I stayed a little to Consol my friend and then myself and @josepha left and came back home because we went together. I couldn't do anything because of how my body became so weak. Anytime I remember that I will not see her again I always shed tears.

I have been indoors since after I came back from the burial. I decided to write on this to see if I can get my mind off her death for atleast a second. Anty Margret we really miss you but we believe that you are in a more better place. May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
