How are you all my dear friends? I hope everyone is well and wish everyone well. I am starting my post today. Today I have come to participate in a drawing contest organized by @benton3 sir in the Steem4Nigeria community. The name of the contest is Week #39 Begins👉Let's do it...Do It Yourself 👉 Drawing.. In this contest, every week we are ordered to draw different animals and birds. Accordingly, today I have come here to draw a Wood Pecker. Today's picture is something I have never drawn before so it is new and first for me. I hope my drawing will be the best and my friends will like it. So let's see how I drew a Wood Pecker. I am presenting all the steps below.

| Let's start with drawing: |

🟫 Step 01
- At the beginning of the drawing I first drew the upper part of the head of a Wood Pecker, the lower part of the beak, the lower part of the throat, and a big eye with a pencil on a notebook.

- In the next stage, I drew the lower part of the body of the Wood Peckerand the tail with below it.

- Then I drew the legs of the Wood Pecker and drew a large tree branch under the legs.

- Then I drew my entire drawing with a black pen. This makes my image clear and looks pretty good.

- Then it's time to colour my picture. Here I first drew the bird's eye area with a black pen, and from the top of the neck to the bottom, on the side of the chest and below the tail,

- then I completely drew the lower part of the neck, chest and lower tail with purple colour.

- Then i am painted the top of the bird's head with red paint and drew a little bit under the neck. I painted the sides of the eyes with light ash paint and the lips with off-white paint.

- Then I painted the legs of the bird with yellow paint and completed the Tree branch with orange paint.

- Then I mentioned my community name, username, and the date next to my picture.

- Then I finished drawing my picture completely

and took a selfie with the full picture of my drawing.

Have you ever seen one?
Yes, of course, I have seen Wood Pecker, and they live in big trees. When I visit our country house in the village, I can see many Wood Peckerroaming in big trees. The Wood Pecker lean on the trees and dig holes in the middle of the trees. Some of the big trees have made very big holes there, and some birds have even settled there.
What type of animal is it?
The is Wood Pecker generally known for its beak and is one of the most famous birds. It can use its beak to cut through tree trunks or entire trees and make holes in them. It has strong jaws and strong beaks, and its tongue is very long, which allows it to easily hunt for food in front of it.
What are its characteristics and what makes it unique?
Wood Pecker usually roam large trees in forests, woodlands and various rural areas and also live their lives by eating the fruits of various nut trees and dry wooden trunks. They complete their daily activities by pecking at the trunks of various trees, especially large ones that are among their prey.

I would have loved to be participating in drawing but I'm not good, but I promise to try because practice makes perfect.
