Art promotes kids creativity || My daughter’s artwork

Hello friends, Happy Friday,

Hope you all are well and enjoying your lockdown time. Although it’s boring to spend idle time for long, we have no alternative of staying home to protect us from this deadly virus. Kids are the main sufferers in this situation. They can’t go outside to play or meet with their friends.

As a parent, it is our responsibility to ensure good and enjoyable time for them. I have given a daily task to my daughter. I told her to draw a picture everyday as per her choice. I have observed that she is enjoying her time. At first, she does the brainstorming to select the art topic. It takes quite some time. After the fruitful brainstorming, she starts the drawing.

I am giving her full support and enthusiasm to complete the task everyday. I read in different articles that artwork can improve kids creativity.
Below observation is from International Child Art Foundation-

Research indicates that a child who is exposed to the arts acquires a special ability to think creatively, be original, discover, innovate, and create intellectual property—key attributes for individual success and social prosperity in the twenty-first century.

Artwork also increases the imagination power. To do an artwork, one has to imagine first. Yesterday, she was trying to draw a picture of sea fishes and plants. For that she did much brainstorming. It definitely increases the imagination power of a kid.

Drawing or painting can also improve colour senses. It is important to select colours when applying in the artwork. If the colours are not applied appropriately, the artwork will not look good. So, it is a good learning for kids to know about colours.

Besides the brain activity, drawing can enhance the physical exercise also. When a kid draws different stuff, he/she draws lines, dots, mixing colours etc which enhances the hand exercise. Gripping colours or pencils are also hand exercise.

Finally, let’s utilise this lockdown time properly and spare sometime with our kids. Drawing and painting could be a better option. Not only it will give joy to your kids but also explore the thinking capability out of the box.

Thanks and stay safe always.
