STEEMFOODS: COOKING MY ALL TIME FAVE “SARSANG BUWAD”

Hey guys! Have you had your dinner already?Well, if not yet, maybe you would want to try this quick and easy to cook Buwad Kinamatisan. I cooked this for our dinner today.

In the Visayas Region of the Philippines, particularly Cebu, this dried fish recipe is very popular and I am excited to share this sweet, sour and salty taste, a good match with your potato or plain rice.

Cooking dried fish is just very simple. Normally, we Cebuanos just grill dried fish, we call it "buwad" and this is food has been with our ancestors from the time of the Spanish period until today.

Ingredients

  • 7 pieces meaty dried fish
  • 1-3pieces medium size onion
  • 1-2 thumb size ginger
  • 1-2 medium size tomato
  • cooking oil
  • 1 tsp. sugar

HOW TO COOK

• Fry the dried fish into the pan.(Half cooked only)
• Set aside the dried fish from the pan and place it on a plate.

• Sauté garlic and onions on the pan Add tomatoes Mix thoroughly under low heat.

• Simmer for about 3 minutes. Then put back the dried fish on the pan. Simmer again for 3 minutes

• add a bit of vinegar or brown sugar to achieve its sweet and sour taste or adjust according to your liking or taste.
