HOW TO PREPARE A LOCAL NIGERIAN SOUP POPULARLY KNOWN AS OWO SOUP|THE RECIPEsteemCreated with Sketch.

Good morning my dear Steemians, I am Ese from Nigeria, today I prepared a local Nigerian delicacy called Owo Soup and I want to share the recipe with you here on Steemit. I will start with my ingredients then after I will show you the method.

INGREDIENTS.

Beef Jerky (Tiko) 600g

Dried Catfish 700g

1/2cup Garri(processed Cassava Powder)

Crayfish 1cup

Periwinkle 1 and 1/2cup

1table Spoon Powdered Chilli Pepper, 3 Maggi Star Stock Cubes and 2cooking spoon of red palm oil.

2cups finely chopped Waterleaf vegetable

1/2 spoon native salt and 1/2 spoon potash

METHOD
STEP 1

I put water in a suitable size pot, after that I allowed it to boil. After it boiled I added 1tbs of powdered chilli Pepper then I grounded and added my crayfish.

STEP 2
I soaked my beef Jerky and dried Catfish in warm water for 5minutes then I washed and set aside.

STEP 3
I added my cleaned fish and beef jerky to the pot of boiling crayfish and dried pepper then I put a pot cover and allowed it to cook for 5minutes to let out the fish and jerky flavour into the soup.

STEP 4

I added my Garri for thickening and I mixed then I added my native salt, Maggi Star stock cubes and potash. I allowed to cook on medium heat for 2 minutes then I added my palm oil.

I stirred up then added my washed periwinkle.

STEP 5
I added my Waterleaf vegetables, I stirred gently and allowed to cook on low heat with the pot cover off for 5 minutes.

I turned off the heat after 5 minutes.

I served in a soup bowl and took a picture.

Owo Soup can be served with Eba, Cassava Starch and boiled yams or plantains.
