STEEMFOODS CONTEST-18-MAKE AN INTERESTING RECIPE VIDEO! & POWER-UP || PEANUT POLVORON

in SteemFoods4 years ago (edited)

Hello beautiful people of Steemit especially to the SteemFoods community.

The Philippines was once colonised by Spain for 333 years and one of the gifts they left to the Filipinos is a type of shortbread called Polvoron. It's a soft, sweet, and crumbly confection made of toasted flour, powdered milk, sugar, butter, and nuts.

This sweet treat is a great dessert and is often given as a gift in the Philippines. There are also many variations of the Polvoron like the cookies and cream, Ube, Polvoron with rice crispies and the one coated with decadent chocolate, but my favorite is the classic Peanut Polvoron, which I will be showing you guys how to make on the video below.

Ingredients:

3 cups All Purpose Flour
1 1/2 cup Powdered Milk
3/4 cup White Sugar
60 grams Plain Peanuts
20 grams Unsalted Butter
1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract
4 tablespoon Cooking Oil
30 grams Confectionary Sugar

Procedure:

  1. Crush 60 grams of plain peanuts using mortar and pestle. Set aside.

  2. Toast flour on a pan over medium-high heat until it turns slightly brown. Continuously stirring to make sure it doesn't burn.

  3. With the same process, slightly toast sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat. Set aside.

  4. Once flour turns slightly brown, add 1 1/2 cup of powdered milk followed by 3/4 cup white sugar. Stir to combine.

  5. On a very low heat, add 4 tablespoons of cooking oil, 20 grams of unsalted butter and lastly add 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.

  6. In a mixing bowl with crushed peanuts, add polvoron base. Mix everything then transfer to a rectangular bowl or tray. Slightly press peanut polvoron using a spatula.

  7. Shape peanut polvoron using polvoron molder then transfer to a plate.

  8. Meanwhile, add 30 grams of confectionary sugar into a mixing bowl then add very small amount of water.

  9. Start plating your peanut polvoron then put icing on top.

  10. Sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds over peanut polvoron then serve.

This recipe can yield 10 pieces of peanut polvoron. I'm using 1.5" diameter round molder.
