OATMEAL AREPAS
Hello my dear friends of STEEMFOODS, it's a pleasure for me to share with all of you how I make my oatmeal arepas. As some of you probably know already, I am from Venezuela and I love cooking. When you think of Venezuelan food the first thing that comes to mind to most of the people are AREPAS which are basically one of the most Venezuelan foods you could ever find.
There are tons of ways of preparing arepas but I want to share with all of you my way of doing it. I love making them with oatmeal cause it's not only healthier but also the taste is great. I'm gonna show you step by step how I make my arepas. Hope you guys enjoy this.
First I grab a bowl and add a cup of water
Now it's time to work with the precooked corn meal
As you can see I add plenty of it (around 1/2 cup)
Salt for flavour
And now my favorite part: oatmeal. I just can't get enough of oatmeal.
This is how it looked once mixed.
Shaped them with my hands
Put them on a pan for around 5 minutes on each side at medium heat
And they're ready. I had mine with tuna, but they go with everything. I love eating them with cheese.
