For some time now I have been less hungry in the mornings and so I have decided not to eat breakfast if I don't feel like it. We had a delicious tuna salad for brunch and for dinner, we bought falafel sandwiches and shawarma from a local vendor. The beef was tender, juicy and well cooked; the vegetables tasted crisp and fresh: lettuce, tomato, pickled cucumbers and others. The yogurt, garlic and herb sauce was light and very tasty. Also, the wrapper paper is waxed, so you can eat your wraps without fear of spilling the sauce or meat juices on your hands or clothes.... But before I tell you about the stand and our order, let me share with you the highlights of my food-day.

Even though I went to bed early last night, I had dinner too late. So I wasn't hungry in the early morning. Since I've been reading a lot of scientific articles about how controlled fasting can help improve mental health as you get older, I've decided not to eat according to schedule but according to need.

The need to eat knocked on my door around 11 a.m. Of course, five hours before I had welcome my good friend, my first cup of hot black coffee.

image.png

Even though I wasn't planning to eat early, I made tuna salad so my husband could eat it as he pleased, but he decided to wait for me anyway.

image.png

I used this canned tuna we had bought a couple of weeks ago because we wanted to try it.

Eveba is cheaper brand than Margarita and it's just as good. So if you see it, you may want to buy a couple of cans for those days when you have little time to spend in the kitchen.

image.png

At first, I thought the quality of Eveba had diminished, as the tuna did not look as compact as I remembered, but it was good enough.

And the olive oil was sufficient, plus it had a softly perfumed aroma, very pleasant.

Glass is still my favorite to preserve tuna, and I like to make these preserves myself, but one needs options sometimes.

Anyway, I chopped tomatoes and red onion, and pulled some sliced black olives out of the fridge. I poured the contents of the can of tuna into the bowl and there I had my salad almost ready.

image.png

A pinch of salt and mixed everything, just a little.

image.png

Three or four hours later, I made arepas, sliced some mozzarella and sprinkled finely chopped ciboulette on my salad and my brunch was ready.

At 6 p.m., my husband went for falafel sandwiches near our house.

I asked my husband to take a couple of pictures to show you here.

image.png

As you can see on your left, the place looks clean and the vendor has a neat stand.

The stand is in front of his house. His daughter is in charge of charging and giving change, so he keeps his hands clean, only preparing the shawarmas and falafel sandwiches.

You can see his stand open from 5 p.m. across the street from Marcos Espín, a landmark in Cumaná. The place will remain open until he sells everything, which happens rather fast.

image.png

The stand is not on Google Maps, but, as I have told you above, it is across from this place you can see below.

Below you can see our order and how much we paid.

We had a delicious meal for only 24 Steems. My husband ate two falafel sandwiches because he was so hungry, but he says he thinks he'd be satisfied with just one.

Below you can see our half eaten falafel sandwich and shawarma .

image.png

And here you are, the delicious falafel patty dipped in homemade yogurt and garlic sauce, which I thought I might need for our order, but our order didn't need anything else, honestly. Loved our meal.

image.png

One thing I missed about my shawarma here was its typical flame-roasted flavor. But believe me, I forgot it after the first bite. Recommended!

These were the highlights of my food-day.
I hope you have delicious and healthy meals today in good company :)

No soy tan exigente. Es que he visto cosas 😱

Gracias por tu linda visita ❤️

Your shawarma looks really yummy. It's made up of thin bread that different from shawarma that I ate

Hi, @suboohi. I'm glad you like it. Certainly, our popular pita bread is flat and bigger than the comercial one. In the Spanish we talk in Venezuela, we call the former "Arabian bread", whereas we call the later, "pita bread" properly (Bimbo pita bread, for example). But in English, both are pita bread. I've seen pita is different for people in Türkiye, too.
I've also seen much bigger flat loaves of pita bread made by nomads in the Arabian dessert... It's an interesting topic. Love your visiting my post. Thanks a lot 🥰
