Pork Belly Recipe With Egg|"Humba Bisaya" @rfprincess
Good Day to all my fellow steemians, especially here at SteemFoods. Today I have another delicious recipe to share with you. This is called Humba
and this is known in the Philippines especially in the Visayas Region. Humba is made of pork belly and cooked over low heat with a mixture of soy sauce and pineapple juice. There are different cooking methods and cooking ingredients in Humba. This recipe is my rendition.
Humba is one of the most popular dishes made from pork meat in the Philippines especially in the Visayas region where the recipe started. Hence it was named "Humba Bisaya".
You will really enjoy the taste of humba because it is sweet and a bit sour and salty. And you’ll really want to eat when your dish is humba.
My ingredients are simple and easy to prepare.
Ingredients:
•1/2 kilo of Pork Belly, cut into cubes
• 1/4 cup of soy sauce
• 2 tablespoons of vinegar
• 1 cup of pineapple juice
• 1 tablespoon of cooking oil
• onion, peeled and sliced
• garlic, peeled and minced
• eggs depending on how many pieces you want to mix in the humba.
Here is my preparation. Make sure to clean the pork belly and slice it into cubes depending on how big the cubes you want.
The first thing I would do is I am going to extract the fat from the meat.
Heat a pan or a wok, once it's hot, put in the pork belly right away and mix until brown then set aside.
While the meat is frying, prepare the eggs and boil. Once the eggs are cooked, peel them and set them aside.
Afterwards, in a wide pot, over medium heat, heat oil, add onion and garlic and cook until slightly brown then put in the pork belly and mix well for about 3 minutes.
While mixing add the soy sauce and cook until the soy sauce sticks to the meat. It's up to you whether to increase the sauce or not because you can also add salt if you feel it lacks flavor. But for me, I dipped the soy sauce so that I wouldn't have to add salt.
And when the sauce is dry, you can add the pineapple juice and let it simmer until the meat is tender and while boiling you can taste it if the sweetness and sourness of the broth are just right for you.
When you taste the broth, you will taste the sweetness and the fruity taste of pineapple juice.
And to make it more delicious and sour, I added ground pepper and a little vinegar to make the sourness even more.
And then I put the egg and mix and cooked it until the broth was soaked in the egg and the meat was completely cooked.
And when cooked it can be transferred to the plate and ready to serve.
It's so easy to make and is sure to be a family favorite.
"Humba bisaya is usually served as the main entree for lunch and dinner, with piping-hot steamed rice as the perfect canvas for its sweet and savory meat sauce." And for sure, you will love it.
