How to correctly assess the quality of a post?

in Steem Alliance2 years ago

There is a recurring word within the "evaluations " of publications, and that is the fact of what Quality is, a word that no matter how much we try to define it will necessarily be conditioned by a personal factor in terms of tastes.

The quality of publications is a very subjective subject, since what may be considered high quality for one person may not be so for another. In addition, it may also vary depending on the context or purpose of the publication.

For example, a publication in a scientific journal must meet a very strict set of quality standards, while a publication in a personal blog may have a more informal approach and may not need to meet those same standards.

It is important to keep in mind at Steemit that quality is not always directly related to the length or complexity of a publication. A short, concise post may be of high quality if it is well-written and presents a strong argument, while a longer, more detailed post may not be of high quality if it is poorly structured or lacks coherence.

But here other aspects come in, such as: Could a 15-word post be considered quality?... is something I've been seriously thinking about. There are literary genres such as microblogging, we also have microstories, some of which can be up to 50 words or less, which for those of us who are used to writing, it could be a real challenge to shorten a publication with that length so much.

We also have another important aspect such as the images that are used, there also comes another quality issue, since a photo may be liked by a professional photographer but not by the general public. Thus, it is good to maintain consistency with the images we use and the text we share.

Photos can be a very important element in posts, as they can help illustrate a point or convey a story in a more visual and engaging way. Also, images can make a post more attractive and easy to read, but they must be well selected for this function to be fulfilled.

In short, post quality is subjective and can vary widely depending on the context and purpose of the post. The important thing is to make sure that the publication meets the appropriate standards and presents well-thought-out and well-structured content.

But I ask, do you have a personal idea of what a quality publication is? Could you share it?

As is well known, there is no accounting for taste - and that is part of the assessment of quality. That makes this assessment subjective and difficult to press into a set of rules. Personally, however, I find it pleasant: we don't all like the same style of writing, the same content, the same approaches. Our understanding of "quality" is as different as we ourselves are. I don't like to laugh at flat jokes, but there are enough people who enjoy them. Instead, I love profound poems, which perhaps find few readers in general.

If a contribution stimulates a reader to sympathy, to debate or even to contradiction - it's good. It doesn't depend on the number of "likes" or the number of votes. The important thing is to touch something in someone.

Saludos.

"The important thing is to touch something in someone."

With this sentence you hit the nail on the head. It is as simple as that, and what makes a person react to something in particular is conditioned by hundreds or thousands of experiences, by study, by culture, by many things, so the valuation of "quality" will be very different.

Thank you for this contribution.

Responding late, but responding. Sometimes between one thing and another I miss some comments. And I don't like to leave unanswered.

Don't worry about - and a lot of luck for you in 2023!
