Should unreliable dreams be discouraged? I say go for it.
We’ve all had friends with dreams as wild and boundless as our imaginations. The wild ones, whom I find so in love with life. I find it fascinating that someone like that can come up with something so extraordinary. I have to give it to them—they amaze me. I don’t even care if those dreams might not materialize. I guess, for me, it’s far better than having none at all.
We are dreamers, and we all have dreams—maybe not as wild as others’, but that’s perfectly normal. After all, we all have desires, and desires often pave the way for dreams.
People often categorize others based on their dreams and what they achieve from them. You’re either labeled a dreamer or a doer. I think it’s unfair to label someone simply because they haven’t, or couldn’t, turn their dreams into reality. It’s a low blow—condescending, even.
I understand that there are people who pursue their dreams relentlessly, defying all odds and adverse circumstances. But they’re not just doers, they’re dreamers too! Those who chase their dreams no matter the outcome—they’re the wild ones.
Some people may find themselves at a standstill with reality, shoving their dreams aside. That’s understandable and, in many ways, quite noble. Things don’t always go the way we plan—that’s the stark reality we live in. I’m reminded of what Mike Tyson once said: “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face.” And it’s true—I’ve been punched in the face by reality more times than I can count.
There are some whose dreams burn as wildly as a wildfire—so ridiculously unrealistic that they can no longer be called dreams but delusions. I suppose it’s equally important to balance dreams with reality to avoid becoming a laughingstock.
As humans, I believe we have so much untapped potential. If I come across someone with dreams that might seem unrealistic, as long as it doesn’t harm others or the environment, that person has my support. I say dream big. We never really know until it happens. You might get punched in the face along the way, but the important thing—the thing that really counts—is that we've landed a left jab and a right hook against reality in return.
