"How do you deal with people who speak ill of you behind your back?"

Good day steaming Steemians around the globe. You are welcome to my blog. It's always a great thing for me to participate in contests because it's an avenue for us all to share in knowledge and understanding and to learn from so many minds.

Living with people and social interactions as we all know, is a very complex thing. People have different upbringings, different educational backgrounds, therefore we view the world and act differently in different situations. Faced with a situation, some will cry😪, laugh🤣, silently find a solution, 🚶‍♂️walk away, face the situation upfront or just go and gossip about it (speak behind your back). Here is a short story for you👇.

Carl and Jane have been married for about 5 years now. After their wedding, Carl traveled out of the country insearch for greener pastures for his family. He only learnt that his wife was pregnant after he was gone. They were both happy and were planning ahead together. He constantly sent stuff and money to support her until she gave birth to their baby girl. Carl would return home once every year as his work permitted to visit his wife and family. During one of his visits, Jane became pregnant again. Their first daughter was already 3 years old. Then, Carl traveled back for work.

One of their neighbours back home started spreading rumors around saying that she is sure that Carl has another family which he takes care of out of the country, and that's why he would only come and have Jane pregnant and run off to his other family abroad. These rumors got to Jane and she believed it. She started accusing her husband and causing problems. This situation stressed Carl that he became inconsistent at work such that he eventually got fired from work.

Meanwhile, Carl had been secretly processing documents for Jane and their kids to join him abroad. This was no more possible because he was now jobless. Things got very bad for Carl that he had to travel back and settle home. He loved his family very much and didn't want to loose them. When he explained all the plans he had and how he was preparing for them to join him abroad to Jane, and how her impatience and heed to gossip had destroyed them, she was ashamed of herself. She regretted she shouldn't have listened to people speaking ill behind her back.

• No matter what you do, good or bad, people will always talk.
• Not every body around you has your best interest at heart.
• Always trust yourself and don't let people's opinions deter you from your objectives.

• It can tarnish someones reputation.
• It can lead to a misunderstanding between people.
• It can destroy relationships.
• The victim's mental health can be affected which can lead to a depression.

• Ofcourse I'll discuss with my husband about what kind of neighbour we have, so that he is aware that we are not loved and be cautious.
• I will make sure that I stay focused and mind my business. When they see that what ever they do doesnt affect me, they will be ashamed.
• I will make sure I am not accessible for gossip. I will shut out anyone who comes to me with gossip. When people know that you are open to listening to gossip, they will always bring gossip your way.
• Depending on the situation, I may go as far as calling out the culprit and exposing them. This will help make the gossip cycle to end.
• Since they spoke ill behind my back, that's actually where they belong, behind my back. So, I will cut them off from my circle of interaction, my entourage or anything that concerns me.
