👨‍💻 #Proposal-86: Communities Update & Table Bug

in Steem Dev3 months ago

As a pleasant change, I've not left it too long since my last update, at the end of which I wrote:

Next Steps

  • Listen to feedback
  • Update the code to use local storage, rather than state, for the show/hide
  • Other bits...

Feedback

As always, I have listened to the feedback and am pleased to hear that you all value the importance of teeth brushing as much as I do. Regular teeth brushing is crucial in personal care and particularly helps prevent gum disease, tooth decay, tooth loss and stinky breath (Source). A guy I used to work with had really stinky breath, especially after he'd drunk a cup of coffee. It was disgusting. At the same workplace, another colleague took his toothbrush with him whenever he went for a poo. I can't decide whether this is also disgusting or good oral hygeine - I'd love to hear your opinions. I'm also pleased that your feedback regarding the show/hide navigation was positive.

Use Local Storage for the show/hide

I also implemented this. I only completed it this morning so it has had minimal testing so far but it appears to be working (after a few bug fixes of course) and is available at the usual URL.

The nature of the changes that I've made is making me nervous so I'm going to go into a phase of intensive testing. I'm at a point where it feels like it's been a long time since something was being pushed to live and it would be nice to see communities updated, along with the handful of smaller bugs that I've fixed.

🪲 Bug 3924

This is a new bug that I opened to fix the display issue where tables are too wide for their container. It's not possible to view the content outside of the view area so I've fixed it so that wider tables are now scrollable. You'll also be able to see this at the usual URL.

That's it for this update. I've uploaded these changes to the following location:

As ever, please take some time to play with the site.

Next Steps

  1. Do lots and lots of testing
  2. Submit changes to GitHub and seek deployment to steemitdev.com
  3. Document the Code Changes (including all bugs)
  4. Improve more things and try not to break anything.

the-gorilla's Alternative Steemit Interface

In case you didn't know, I've created an interface to help you find content that you're interested in more easily.

Posts by voting bot users, abusers and spam tags are hidden and you can search by multiple tags - allowing you to find the content that you're interested in more easily.

the-gorilla's Club Status Tool

I've also created a tool to help users review their club status - showing them where their power's coming from, how much they're powering up, transferring out and who they share a wallet with amongst other things.

Please use it wisely.
