From the Garden: Winter is Still Here
As the month of February draws to a close, it is still very much winter, but the cold is not quite as "thick" and the days are starting to get longer.
I spotted this single tiny calendula in bloom, in a sheltered spot under a tree:
Clearly, it has decided that winter is over!
The snows are already much lighter. We just get a small dusting, and it is gone within a day, most of the time.
The snow settles on the branches of the trees, and it looks very pretty for a short while... but even just a few gusts of wind and it is gone again.
The vegetable garden still lies dormant. The prayer flags (which we have there to scare away the deer, as well!) stand out against the white background.
But as you can see, the snow cover is very thin, now.
In another 3 weeks or so, the risk of freezing will be low enough that we can start working in the garden, and make the plans to get this year's vegetables started!
I look forward to gardening season... and it is getting closer.
Thanks for stopping by!

Club5050 Footnote
I am trying to adhere to the #club5050 initiative that's going around, to see if I can't build this account a bit. Below is a screen shot of what I did with the rewards of my last post... I add a little bit to my "savings" and power up the rest:
My goal is to have enough in the "savings" by December to use for a Christmas present or two!
