Same happens with most of the newbies. Signing up for a new account on Steemit is like trying to fit a camel into a rickshaw. :-)
I mean it's so annoying that a new user can't even create an account. I've invited many friends to join Steemit, but they've failed at the account creation process.
Even I wanted to create an account for my wife, but it wasn't happening. Then, I paid 3 Steem from my wallet to claim an account. Now, I can't claim an account for anyone else from my wallet. Because it's considered account farming.

I just gave it a try. I had 2 (?) tickets and although I thought I had the account it turned out not to exist.
I gave it a second try and it worked (no tickets left and no idea how many years it will take to receive the next ticket 🤔.).

Looks like you only claimed one Account Ticket, so it all worked as expected. I guess you can already claim a few more. You can always see how many Resource Credits you have left here:

Yes, you paid to create the account with the Account Ticket that you claimed before. So, you can click the "Claim Account" button to claim more Account Tickets that you can then use at any time to create accounts from them. As soon as you actually create an account, the number of your available (earlier claimed) Tickets will be reduced by 1, of course.
