The Diary Game Season 3 [Betterlife] The Extreme Journey to the tom of national heroes ''Tjoet Meutia'' in The Jungle of Aceh
Hello Steemians
Some time ago we youths gathered and discussed touring, yes touring is like climbing a mountain. We consist of several young activists from various social organizations. Among us are the souls of nature lovers, social volunteers, community caring for the environment and youth lovers of the world of photography. If a group of people in Aceh is more popular with climbing Mount Burni Telong, Mount Burni Klieten, Mount Geurutee and Mount Seulawah, this time choosing different objects and destinations. We chose to go to the Tomb of the National Hero "Cut Meutia", which is located 50KM from downtown Lhokseukon, Aceh. I and other friends agree with the discourse, we are ready to climb and make a pilgrimage to the graves of national heroes. Morning with sunny weather shining on this morning, the bright sunshine is increasingly burning our spirits. We young people plan to make a pilgrimage to the grave of a national hero from Aceh, "Tjut Nyak Meutia" or better known as "Cut Meutia". He was born on February 15, 1870, Aceh and died on October 24, 1910, Aceh (Sultanate of Aceh)
At a battle with the Marechausée Corps in Paya Cicem, Tjoet Meutia and the women fled into the forest. Pang Nanggroe himself continued to fight until he died on September 26, 1910.
Tjoet Meutia then got up and continued to fight with the rest of his troops. He attacked and seized colonial outposts while moving towards Tanah Gayo through the jungle. However, on 24 October 1910, Tjoet Meutia and his troops clashed with Marechausée in Alue Kurieng. In that battle Tjoet Njak Meutia died.
On December 19, 2016, for his services, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia immortalized it in the new rupiah banknotes of the Republic of Indonesia, the Rp1,000 denomination.
That morning at exactly 10:30 am we moved with each vehicle in a bell, according to the agreement and information we got via the WhatsApp group that the point of gathering was in Matangkuli sub-district, North Aceh. One hour drive to arrive at the meeting point location, at exactly 10:30 am, all members of the climbing team were gathered there. We also shop for a few personal needs and sufficient logistics supplies.
The journey has just started, we can still use motorbikes because half of the route is still accessible by two-wheeled vehicles. We departed with 5 motorbikes and consisted of 9 people and 1 guide. I chose to ride at the back, because I am not used to driving on hilly terrain. only 20 minutes we can use a motorbike on the route of the road to climb and full of rocks. In the middle of the trip we were forced to park the vehicle in the middle of the forest, this was confirmed by the safety of the guide who was accompanying us. He said it was safe, because this route was only traversed by groups of deer hunters.
Then continue the journey on foot, climbing to the destination. We spent 8 hours on foot to get to our destination, my friends and I had time to rest in several places. There are no huts, there are no houses. We only take shelter under large shady trees. We are stifling heat, holding back thirst, fortunately the area has started to feel the cold because it has entered the protected forest area of Aceh.
The sound of birds chirping, it was getting late but the journey had not yet ended, the journey continued until late in the evening. Arriving at the hero's grave complex, we took a short break, a sweaty journey, I was very tired. I thought it was an extreme journey, going through the wilderness route with the makeshift equipment. It turns out that this historical site is truly located in an isolated location in the middle of a wilderness. At 9:00 pm we started to prepare dinner, we brought some instant food and ready-to-eat drink sachets. Making it easier for us to eat dinner in complete darkness, we only brought a small flashlight to use for that one night. We bring each a hanging swing (hammock) to rest, because in the wild we take turns guarding and resting. I didn't feel it when I woke up in the morning, it was 7:20 a.m. the sun had risen from the east, I woke up a little late. I saw my friends had prepared breakfast, I got up and immediately ate it.
We didn't stay there for long, we immediately got ready to work together to clean up the Heroes Cemetery complex. Then we took pictures and took some documentaries to promote this historical site to the public. We took Photo and video documentation and interviewed the guide for him to tell us a little of his historical origins. Arriving at 9:30 a.m. that morning we immediately rushed back, remembering that the journey home was still long. But on the way home, the guide asked us to go home through a different route. We went back through the "Peuto" River, which is still one upstream from the "Keureuto" River. The atmosphere was so cool because we walked along the river, it was closer than having to climb several steep hills. We found several waterfalls that can be used as tourist destinations around the location of the grave of the national hero Cut Meutia.
Maybe this could be a special attraction for those of us who are on tour, so we try to capture the moment by taking pictures and making video footage. Our aim is to safeguard nature reserves and create an appeal to the public for pilgrimages to the graves of heroes. We really appreciate the services of heroes and we care about nature reserves, so it should be preserved.
