Aceh International Forum 2024, Reflection of Two Decades Post-Tsunami.

Acting Governor of Aceh, Dr. H. Safrizal ZA, M.Si, emphasized that the 20th anniversary of the Aceh tsunami is an important moment to reflect on valuable lessons from one of the greatest disasters in world history.

"This commemoration is not only about remembering the tragedy that claimed more than 200 thousand lives, but also to ensure preparedness and collaboration in facing future disasters," said Safrizal in a press statement for the Aceh International Forum (AIF) 2024 at the Governor's Pendopo, Saturday (12/21/2024).

Safrizal said that AIF 2024, which is part of a series of events to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Aceh tsunami, will discuss two main topics, namely lessons from the tsunami and reflection on the handling process over the past two decades.

"This forum will produce important recommendations that are useful not only for Aceh, but also at the national and international levels," he said.

He also emphasized that Aceh's experience in disaster management can be a basic example for other countries in dealing with similar situations.

Safrizal hopes that cooperation between various parties, including universities such as UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh and Teuku Umar University and local governments can continue to be improved to achieve mutual benefits at the global level.

"Aceh's disaster management model has proven effective and can be an inspiration for the international world," he added.

The Chairperson of the AIF 2024 Organizing Committee, Saifuddin A Rasyid, said that this forum was designed as a forum for reflection on Aceh's development over the past two decades, discussions about the future of Aceh, and promotion of an advanced and visitor-friendly Aceh.

"The implementation of AIF 2024 carries three main themes, namely Religion, Togetherness, and Humanity. These three aspects must go hand in hand and strengthen each other for sustainable progress," said Saifuddin.

This activity is the result of collaboration between UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh, Teuku Umar University (UTU) Meulaboh, and the Aceh Government.

For information, the Aceh International Forum (AIF) 2024 will take place on December 23-25, 2024. This forum will be attended by a number of world and national figures, including ambassadors, officials of friendly countries, and ministers and deputy ministers from the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

The series of events includes international seminars, round table meetings, international exhibitions, mass circumcisions, and book launches.
