Can Steem Promotion and Awareness Creation Alleviate Poverty in Africa?

A year or so ago the current community heartchurch which was then known as steemchurch initiated a campaign on catering people with atleast 1 dollar a day, before this @pennsif had already had the @adollaraday campaign ongoing and was receiving good support which was moved lots of philanthropic activity on the blockchain and helped many find their daily living

During this campaign by @heartchurch the farming project also came about and through steem many were able to procure some farming tools, lands and crops which became a sustainable way of living for them. Many undermine the great things steem can do and many do not see the potential of steem, the limit their vision to the profit and perhaps diary game but today it dawned on me and i started to wonder, can steem alleviate poverty in Africa or Ghana?

Lets take it one step at a time, do you think steem can alleviate poverty in your community? Well i can and i believe if we do things right it can go wider, expanding to the whole country or perhaps a continent. You may notice that the first Sustainable Development Goal that was spelt out from the Alma Mata Declaration focused on poverty and this is because poverty is a canker plaguing many countries and ought to be alleviated.

Big countries and big organizations are doing their very best to help with the situation across the globe, what are we doing as steemians to add out quota to the situation. I am always proud and excited to see charity works on the blockchain, perhaps one day we would a community established that would focus solely on charity and this would promote the focus and goal as much we had focused on contests and even powerups. Imagine steemians decided to set a part of their earnings on a regular basis to support charity on the blockchain.

According to worldbank.org "433 million living in the sub-saharan region has been approximated to live in extreme poverty. The issue of poverty or extreme poverty does not limit itself to Africa alone. According to fullfacts.org the UK estimated 14.3 million to be living below the poverty line. I am not asking that this issue be solved at a go but i am hopeful that steemians and our amazing blockchain will continue its good work to continue to battle this pandemic that many do not consider in our own ways and do the best we can to help as many as we can wherever we find ourselves.

Poverty has indigenous folks in Ghana focusing more on "galamsey" illegal minning to survive and now our waters bodies are so polluted people are giving birth to deformed babies. Poverty has countries been overun by powerful states to take away their resource for megre fees. Poverty has promoted child labour, sex trafficking, child trafficking and all the other things you can simple imagine.

Poverty is a deadly disease and through steem, through promotional activites, through awareness and through their education and enlightenment more can be done. Are you willing to make the change? That's the million dollar question i ask myself. The man in the mirror is you and I, how are we helping? Maybe someday things would get better than it is today and we will have steemit to thank for.
