Health Benefits Obtained After Donating Blood

in STEEM FOR BETTERLIFE3 years ago
Blood donors are simply blood donors or people who donate blood to help others. Blood donation as a social activity is a form of concern for fellow human beings. In addition to helping fellow humans who need blood transfusions, blood donors also make the donor's body healthier because the blood cells in the body are replaced more quickly with new ones. These benefits can be obtained if the donor conducts blood donation regularly and continuously on a voluntary basis, i.e. once every three months. Donors who donate blood on a regular basis also tend to be free from infections that can be transmitted through transfusions because they are aware of the importance of blood safety and undergo a medical examination before each donating blood.

Before giving blood, of course the donor must prepare his body. Likewise, after a transfusion, the donor needs plenty of rest and replaces what has been lost. One way is to eat healthy food before and after donating blood.

Every year, millions of people in this world need blood. Starting from people who undergo surgery, lose a lot of blood after an accident or childbirth, to sufferers of certain diseases.

Without an adequate blood supply, many medical procedures are blocked, or even stopped. In addition to the blood, the person who donates is no less important. That is why, your health as a donor must always be maintained.

Did you know that every 8 seconds, there is one person who needs a blood transfusion in Indonesia and every minute, there are 10 people now waiting for a blood donation? According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2015, Indonesia lacks the amount of blood production nationally, which is around 500 thousand bags each year. It could be that public awareness to become a voluntary donor is still low. In fact, there are many benefits of regular blood donation for the health of the donor.

One of the main health benefits of donating blood includes a reduced risk of hemochromatosis. It is a health condition that arises due to excessive absorption of iron by the body.

This condition can be inherited or caused by alcoholism, anemia, and other disorders. Donating blood regularly will reduce excess iron in the body.

Lower iron levels in the body reduce the risk of developing cancer symptoms. The chances of suffering from cancer, especially colon, lung, liver, throat and lung cancer are lower if you donate blood.

A reduced level of iron in the body is associated with a lower risk of cancer. Apart from these major health benefits, donating blood can help reduce stress, improve emotional well-being.
