RE: Contest | 25-Word Comment - Monkey Business | Cheating - 6 Steem

in STEEM FOR BETTERLIFE2 months ago (edited)

Cheating has become the norm in many places around me. They all know the consequences of cheating but because they know they can easily get away with it, they engage in it all the time. Nothing good comes easy.

The teachers who encourage students to cheat do so, so that they can be liked by their students and collect gifts from them. They may feel helpful but they're not really helping the lives of these students.

When these students graduate, they enter professions they know nothing about. They end up struggling in those jobs and aren't really helpful and useful to their communities.

An example is a friend of mine who didn't really enjoy reading. She thought studying was a chore and so spent more time doing more enjoyable things. When it was time for exams, she would be so relaxed because she could pay people to do her exams. The lecturers were also settled, so that she'll get good grades and please her parents.

Did it do her any good in the end? No.

She ended up getting jobs at big organisations fortunately. But she couldn't cope because she couldn't prove she could do all the things listed in her CV. She wasted many years looking for new jobs, entering them and not knowing what to do. She would often get frustrated with herself and everything.

She realised her mistake and eventually changed jobs. She's taking each step one by one. Reminding herself, that it's difficult but not impossible. She's growing everyday now, realising that there's no easy route to achieve anything.

You know, cheating is not the main problem. It's the common drive to have it all and not sacrifice anything. To have an easy life without doing the necessary work.

How can one be relaxed if the only way to pass is to count on someone else? That would make me nervous because if you have to bribe or pay someone else you know they will always ask me, you can be blackmailed and for sure they won't keep their mouth shut.

Those teachers I don't understand but I saw them as easy to buy with a few apples or a cake, also many who always were absent and misbehaved did pass just because the teachers wanted to get rid of them. On the other hand there never was any mercy for those who really studied hard. I lie if I say I ever met a teacher after I left primary school dedicated to the job and willing to teach a child.

The downside of this system and the fact cheating is the norm this also means those few left and being honest will have less chance. It's proven that those who brag get the best jobs and not those being honest. The message sent is definitely that if you cheat you will make it. If that weren't the case cheating would have stopped a long time ago but it is what politicians and high-ranked businesses men do.. Bill Gates, you name it.
Thanks for sharing your story, I hope the one you talk about is motivated enough to work for her future.
A great weekend to you.
