Gratitude Challenge: Three Things I'm Grateful For This Year!

Gratitude is an expression of appreciation for something Good. Oftentimes in our lives, we receive Good things we are unworthy of; should we not be grateful for such? We may not notice someone has positively impressed our lives if we don't sit and recount our blessings. Looking at the year 2024, I have many things to be grateful for, but I will only mention just three.

GRATEFUL FOR MY DAUGHTER

---

My dear wife was admitted to the hospital on the 9th of January 2024 because she was in labor. I was happy because I was going to become a father, but at the same time, I was scared; I didn't want to lose either my baby or my wife. The labor was a prolonged one, it lasted longer than we expected.

On the 10th of January, till about 10 pm, my wife did not give birth. She became weak, and the doctor informed us that our baby's pulse was reducing and that my wife needed an emergency cesarean section. We immediately signed the necessary documents and she was taken to the theater. A few moments later, my daughter was delivered, but she had some issues and needed to be admitted and placed on oxygen.

My daughter and wife received the necessary medical treatment, and with time they became healthy and were discharged from the hospital. I now have a very healthy, beautiful, and strong daughter. Isn't this something to be grateful for?

I am very grateful to God for the life of my daughter and wife; they are healthy and just fine. I am also grateful to my family who stood by me in this challenging time. Believe me, I Feel blessed whenever I look at my Daughter, I would have lost her if not for God's intervention.

GRATEFUL FOR MY LIFE

I have had different medical issues since my childhood, which I chose not to reveal but all these times, God miraculously healed me. I am in a risky business, that's transportation, I spend most of my time on roads and steering, but God always protects me and keeps me alive.

This year, there was a day I had a deflated Tyre, and I had a vulcanizer who worked the Tyre and changed the spoiled one. During the process of doing that, he forgot to properly tighten the wheel nut. I entered the car and began accelerating. I was at speed, and my car shook after a while. When I stopped to check what was wrong, I noticed that the front wheel of my car was about to pull off. I would have had a fatal accident if that happened. But God somehow intervened.

The very gift of life is underserving, nobody deserves it, but God gives it to all without a price. Isn't it something to be grateful for?

GRATEFUL FOR NECESSITIES

---

Life is becoming harder than before. The economy of my country is moving from bad to worse, and every Nigerian can testify to this. The money one used in providing for his family in a month last year is the amount he uses to provide for his family in five to seven days this year. People earn less and spend more, and this has made so many families destitute. They practically beg for food, and at times, nobody would help.

We always have what to eat in my family, we have life's necessities. I provide for the needs of my family, and this makes me a happy man. Who am I if not for the almighty's help? I am forever grateful to him.

The very fact that we provide for our families what they need should make us happy, wants will come in due time.

CONCLUSION

I am grateful for my daughter, and I am not better than those who lost their babies, but God, out of his mercy, kept her alive for me. I am grateful for my life, to see today and write this post is a privilege that I don't deserve. Am I better than those who lost their lives? No, I am not; that is why I say, thank you, Jehovah! Finally, I am grateful for the ability to provide the needs of my family in this economic hardship.
