As the name implies are unforeseen circumstances that could hinder the lives of people. Could also be said to be a sudden event worth of calamity that would lead to a great volume of damage, destruction or rampage and are being caused by naturally. Examples are erosion, tornado, storms, earthquakes, thunder strike and many more.

The Natural disaster in my location?

For me I reside in the west region of the African map, specifically Nigeria. The natural disaster that is mostly encountered in my location is erosion which is mostly cause by flooding. We also have wind blowing disasters and thunderstorms but not the issue of earthquakes and storm tornadoes and others occouring the the international states.

The areas they affect?

Water is said to be taking over 75% of the world globally. So if not properly channeled and controlled it could Lead to the drowning of the whole population race.there is no specific area for disasters not to take place it’s not a fixed coincidence it’s an unforeseen coincidence which is cause by the inability of the habitants of the specific zone not to have regulated maintenance toward reducing the effects of disasters in the area.

How do they cause ruins, and how are people affected?

It’s name erosion means the flushing of every item that gets in its way as the flood current increases. It would break down bricks into making building to become weak and while the collapse it would also clear everything on its path successfully.

Flood destroys anything on its path and if eventually it gets stopped it recedes and forcefully looks for a way to flow through even when it demands destroying of life and properties. Disasters are mostly witnessed by the people in the way of disturbing their day to day living, leaving their lives at a risk of death and loss of property or valuable items and perishable goods.

The most probable cause of it?

It is mostly caused by blockage in the drainage system or improper management of waste materials and resources. The cause of flooding are all channeled to the uneven blockage of drainage systems mostly being caused by the ignorance of citizens or each individual involved in the littering of gutter or road side.

The water channel always loves flowing at a free rate ant when items like light waste materials block its path, it lifts the item as it flows picking them all up till it gets to a bridge or height where the materials gathered are now stocked up and they hinder the free passage of water the water then starts receding by stopping the current behind it, which leads to it the digging of holes or wreaking of properties that are not strong.

Was there a prior alert from the government?

Every state government gives basic announcements on each household having their own gutter all channeled together towards the waste management infrastructures who then redefine the products into useful materials like the food materials being used as ferterlizers, and other items are being recycled for another session of usage.

For references the government of Lagos state always passes informations during rainy seasons to citizens to make all gutters and drainage passages clear and tidy to reduce the risk of flooding which causes the wreckage of houses, blocking of road passages for vehicles and pedestrians. The government would always make deviating steps to help in the improvements of the citizen welfare and to work towards the mission of Green Earth.

What I should do in case of situations like these?

Best thing is to help the government by making the waste management process easier by not making the gutters blocked by nylons and bottles but better still having separated waste bins for different waste items as they are being required.

For example a separate waste bin for food items, another bin for recycled items like bottles and woods this way the recycling process is easier and faster.

Differentiating waste items and proper dumping of refuses in the bins helps reduce the rate of blockages in the gutters and drainage system because even the channeled water serves as a form generating electricity and once the water does not have free flow or is being polluted it could lead to a disaster
