Hello friends @steembetterlife, it's a pleasure to be here, today I'll be sharing my diary on training of Mpox(monkey pox) to the field and Sensitization of Mpox as red cross volunteer.

TRAINING

On 5th December 2024 I was notified by my Divisional Secretary(DS) that I'm among the list of volunteers that will be attending training on mpox virus in our branch office on 7th December 2024 ,8 :00am, so he asked me to get prepared and get to the training on time suddenly here come Saturday being 7th of December 2024.

As I woke up I did my morning rituals , after that I went to bathroom to take my bath then when I was done wearing my cloth i called @jozzie90 cause he's a volunteer as well and his name was among the list for the training . So when @jozzie90 reached my side we went to the highway and the vehicle that was going to our branch office ,Akwa ibom state Red cross branch office,Aka Rd. Under 15 mins we reached our office and we were moved to guest house for the training and things were getting more interesting.

After sometimes we were notify by our senior colleague that the training will be starting by 9am so I and @jozzie90 decided to go outside the building to take some pictures before the training will start though it was just 8:30am , while we were snapping pictures we were called inside the conference hall that the training will be starting right away and me and @jozzie90 obeyed and went inside

The training started with volunteers singing the Red cross gyrations and it was so fun and interesting ,then after the gyrations section ,the training program was opened with prayer , giving God thanks.

After the prayer was done , it was Introduction of officials ,like the introduction of Akwa ibom state health officials and other Akwa ibom state Red cross branch official who were to take us on the training concerning Mpox

The Mpox training is training that was done so that the Red cross volunteers will know what's Mpox?, what causes Mpox?,how does Mpox spread?, the symptoms and sign of Mpox,how can Mpox be preventing

what's Mpox ?

Mpox is a viral disease affecting animals characterized by so many symptoms. Mpox is formerly called monkey pox ,however it can result in a long problems and eventually to death if not managed appropriately.

what causes Mpox ?

Mpox, also known as monkeypox, is caused by the monkeypox virus. The virus belongs to the Orthopoxvirus genus, which includes other viruses like smallpox and cowpox.

TYPES OF MPOX

Mpox virus disease is classified into two types which are clade 1 and clade 2

• Clade 1: This is the type of Mpox virus that's found in the Democratic Republic of Congo and other parts of Central Africa. It is considered more severe and has a higher death rate

• Clade 2:This clade is found in West Africa, particularly in Nigeria, Ghana, and other countries in the region. It is considered milder and has a lower death rate

How does Mpox spread ?

• Direct contacts with infected person

• Contact with respiratory droplet of someone that's infected

• Using and touching objects of an infected person (clothes, towels, using same beddings). It can also be contacted by touching surfaces that have been used by the infected person

• Contact with infected animals

Signs and Symptoms pf Mpox

• Rash containing pus with fluid on any part of the body including the palms ,feet and genitals

• Headache

• Fever

• Body ache

• Sore throat

• Swollen lymph nodes

• Weakness

How to Prevent Mpox

• Avoiding close contact with people who are sick with Mpox

• Do not share cups, utensils, bedding or other objects

• If possible person that is infected should be isolated until they've recover and their rash has healed

At the moment there's no treatment for Mpox ,but any suspected cases should reach out the healthcare facilities that's around he or her region so that medical care can be given to treat symptoms . It takes 5 to 21 days for signs and symptoms of Mpox to appear.

I think that's all you guys really need to know about Mpox from me. So after the training was over we were told that we'll be deploy to the field to go and sensitize our communities on the outbreak of Mpox virus diseases . After announcements was made on how the field was going to be , refreshments was shared to volunteers and the training came to an end then I and @jozzie90 went out to take pictures with some volunteers

Sensitization Of Mpox

After the training on Saturday 7|12|2024, we were deployed to field 9|12|2024 to go and create aware of the mpox outbreak ,letting the community know what's Mpox ?, caused of Mpox and how does Mpox can be transmitted ?, symptoms and sign of Mpox, how can Mpox be prevented?

The sensitization part of it is to last for forty days and we're just starting . Volunteers were grouped in pairs and luckily me and @jozzie90 are partners. So we're creating awarenesses around itu LGA axis ward 8 and 9. We moved house to house creating awareness which is very stressful though

CONCLUSION

Please my fellow steemians y'all should take note of the mpox virus disease, especially the symptoms and how can be spread and prevented . Then Incase you are always using public transport be mindful of the person you sit close to , please y'all should stay safe
