School twist and enrolment on the first day fo school
Thank God for this wonderful opportunity to educate my children!
School year 2024-2025 has started three days ago and my daughter and I experienced a twist in her school schedule.
Two shifts!
Recently, the school principal called all the grade 5 and grade 6 student's parents to let us know that the oldest school building which the grades 5 and grades 6 had used had to be repaired because it is very old and is already dangerous for the children to occupy. And because of this, grades 5 and six had morning and afternoon sessions so the children will not miss school this year.
The first day of school and enrollment
On Monday, July 29th, I and my excited daughters woke up early and my husband prepared for food while I helped the girls prepare and at exactly 6:30 in the morning, eylii and I left the house in the hope that we will be first in he line in her school principal for enrollment. I really had to finish what I had to as early as I can so I could still go to my work after.
Unreleased Report Card
The school allocated two weeks of enrollment but my husband was unfortunate to see my daughter's grade 4 adviser to get her report card which is needed for her enrollment and that is why we had to go to the principal's office instead. Good thing my husband assisted me on getting the report card and that he also brought money to pay for the daughter's unpaid fees which is resulted for an unreleased school card.
Attending Flag Ceremony
It's the first day of school so the school held a flag ceremony and the pre school to grade 4 students had to attend. The principal insisted she will not entertain visitors until the ceremony is over and so we waited and attended the flag ceremony instead. Oh it brought nostalgia to me and I missed those days when I was still as student.
As soon as the flag ceremony was over, we lined up and waited for our turn to be entertained yet sad to say there were those who crossed and went ahead us as if they did not see us waiting.

Choosing her adivser
Oftentimes, students can't choose who their adviser is but...
Fast forward to my turn, I was advised ot get the daughter's report card in her class adviser and returned to her and told us to go to a certain teacher who is the grade leader. The grade leader then told us to find the name of our daughter outside the grade 5 class rooms and we dd iso but we just could not find her on the lists. Now the husband saw his teacher friend
and persuaded her to have our daughter in her class she declined by he insisted and so she received her.
The daughter was happy with her new classroom, her new teacher and new sets of classmates and we soon left her as soon as we saw her in her chair. She has a classmate who is also her classmate in grade 4 and they went well.
But I haven't seen my Laling that morning because she has been enrolled on time and they are already too busy inside their classroom and also I had to hurry home to prepare for work.
That night, my kids were very excited to tell me of their first day experiences at school. Laling had her crown as a first day welcome, and is very excited to tell me that she knew where her cousin's room is.
Oh and I almost forgot, I got tired of walking round and round in the school looking for my daughter's name on the classroom lists and helping my uncle to look for his kid's classrooms too. They too were shocked on how big the school is especially now that it was not arranged by grade level.
Here is the school map I snapped while waiting for the flag ceremony to end.
And boy, I am bad at reading maps and I got lost several times finding the grade 5 classrooms. Thanks to my husband who is more familiar with he teachers and is keen in observing everything he sees.
So then I proceeded to my workplace after, arriving late and I'm sure about salary deduction again. Sigh, another donation to the company🙄. But that afternoon, donmads did not come for mentoring because it is his rest day.
To summarize, I had an adventurous day; well I don't look for a certain classroom every day. It was fun too! But the real challenge is waking up early every weekdays to prepare my kids to school.
Life is a roller coaster of happiness, excitement and disappointments but despite all that, always have the source of happiness from the people and things that you love!
This will be all for today, thanks you for your never ending support always!
