En mi paso por un pequeño núcleo de una orquesta sinfónica, me encontré con una pieza que se convirtió en todo un reto y completa satisfacción para mi, les cuento por que.

Bien, esa orquesta la verdad era muy pequeña y el ensamble no contaba con todos los instrumentos que conlleva una Orquesta como tal, así que, el director y los profesores, decidieron hacer una adaptación con lo poco que tenían (contrabajo, viola, violín, clarinete, trombón, piano y percusión, y la flauta y Piccolo que nos unimos al final) eso si, debido a la complejidad de la pieza, por el hecho de no contar con todos los instrumentos, los profesores decidieron que la iban a tocar ellos, junto a los alumnos más destacados de cada fila, yo tenia muy poco tiempo tocando flauta, pero una gran amiga que si era flautista desde hace muchos años, y yo, vimos que a nosotras nunca nos llamaron para ese ensayo, y nosotras queríamos estar allí porque sentíamos que éramos capaces y nos lo merecíamos, así que recuerdo que le pedimos a nuestro profesor de flauta que nos diera la partitura y él lo hizo, pero les confieso que cuando la vi, me dio dolor de cabeza ja ja ja, la veía súper complicada, pero aún así luego de unos cuantos ensayos con el profesor él nos dijo que no estábamos preparadas para ese nivel y nos quitó la partitura, y bueno hay algo que nunca voy a tolerar en la vida: No acepto que nadie me diga que no puedo hacer algo, y mi amiga piensa igual, así que nosotras, más fuerte que el odio decidimos hablar con uno de nuestros mayores consejeros y cómplices dentro de la escuela, el profesor de piano, que a su vez era el profesor de coro, y se caracterizaba por ser extremadamente sincero y significativamente estricto, así que sabíamos que que si él nos decía que no podíamos con ese tema, seria nuestro retiro definitivo de la orquesta. Para nuestra sorpresa, cuando le comentamos, nos dijo que le extrañaba que nosotras no estuviéramos en ese ensayo, si éramos una de las mejores, no solo de la fila de las flautas, sino también de la toda la orquesta en general, así que durante días estuvimos ensayando con él muchísimas horas, todo fue a escondidas, nadie sabia que nosotras estábamos ensayando esa pieza. La verdad no fue fácil, pero al final logramos tocar la pieza completa, me atrevería a decir que casi a la perfección, ahora el reto era tocarla junto al ensamble, y ese temido día llegó, cuando el director llamó al ensayo, nosotras, sin ser invitadas, entramos al salón y tomamos nuestra posición, todos nos vieron con cara de: ¿Y estás desubicadas, más o menos qué? pero nosotras dignas, frente en alto y flauta en mano, seguíamos sentadas en nuestro lugar. El profesor de coro habló con el director, le explico que estuvimos ensayando, y que él consideraba que nosotras estábamos preparadas para esa pieza, solo recuerdo que en ese instante el director se nos quedó viendo fijamente y luego sonrió y dijo, "confió en ustedes". Y comenzó el ensayo, recuerdo que luego de varias repeticiones, el director me dijo: Beatriz, necesitamos un solo de Piccolo...es tú momento. Yo creo que dejé de sentir la piernas, las manos, la boca, todo, jajajaja, pero bueno, también había ensayado el solo de Piccolo así que no todo podía ser tan malo, por lo que mi respuesta inmediata fue: "estoy lista". Y la pieza salió de arriba a abajo a la perfección, y ver como al final todos nos aplaudían y nos felicitaban a mi amiga y a mi por el esfuerzo que habíamos hecho, por nuestra persistencia y por nuestro talento, ese momento no tiene precio para mi, es más, lo cuento y se me eriza la piel, y la satisfacción que nuestro profesor de flauta, que a veces era un poco duro con nosotras, nos diera la mano y nos dijera: "estoy orgulloso de ustedes" eso la verdad que hizo que valiera la pena todo. Así que, ¿Cómo no ser feliz recordando este tema?

In my passage through a small nucleus of a symphony orchestra, I came across a piece that became a challenge and complete satisfaction for me, I tell you why.

Well, that orchestra was really very small and the ensemble did not have all the instruments that an orchestra as such entails, so the conductor and the teachers decided to make an adaptation with the little they had (double bass, viola, violin, clarinet, trombone, piano and percussion, and the percussion), piano and percussion, and the flute and Piccolo that we joined at the end) that if, due to the complexity of the piece, by the fact of not having all the instruments, the teachers decided that they were going to play it together with the most outstanding students of each row, I had very little time there, I had very little time there, but a great friend who was a flutist for many years, and I, saw that we were never called for this rehearsal, and we wanted to be there because we felt we were capable and deserved it, so I remember that we asked our flute teacher to give us the score and he did it, but I confess that when I saw it, it gave me a headache ha ha ha, it looked super complicated, but still after a few rehearsals with the teacher he told us that we were not ready for that level and took the score away, and well there is something that I will never tolerate in life: I don't accept anyone telling me I can't do something, and my friend thinks the same, so we, stronger than hate decided to talk to one of our biggest advisors and accomplices within the school, the piano teacher, who in turn was the choir teacher, and was characterized by being extremely sincere and significantly strict, so we knew that if he told us that we couldn't handle that subject, it would be our definitive withdrawal from the orchestra. To our surprise, when we told him, he told us that he was surprised that we were not in that rehearsal, if we were one of the best, not only of the flute line, but also of the whole orchestra in general, so for days we were rehearsing with him many hours, everything was hidden, no one knew that we were rehearsing that piece. The truth was not easy, but in the end we managed to play the whole piece, I dare say that almost to perfection, now the challenge was to play it with the ensemble, and that dreaded day came, when the director called the rehearsal, we, uninvited, entered the room and took our position, everyone saw us with a face of: And you're out of place, more or less what? but we dignified, forehead up and flute in hand, we remained seated in our place. The choir teacher talked to the director, explained that we were rehearsing, and that he considered that we were ready for that piece, I just remember that at that moment the director stared at us and then smiled and said, "he trusted you". And the rehearsal began, I remember that after several repetitions, the director said to me: Beatriz, we need a Piccolo solo...it's your moment. I think I stopped feeling my legs, hands, mouth, everything, hahahaha, but well, I had also rehearsed the Piccolo solo so it couldn't all be so bad, so my immediate response was: "I'm ready". And the piece came out from top to bottom perfectly, and to see how at the end everyone applauded us and congratulated my friend and me for the effort we had made, for our persistence and our talent, that moment is priceless for me, indeed, I count it and my skin crawls, and the satisfaction that our flute teacher, who sometimes was a little hard with us, gave us his hand and told us: "I'm proud of you" that really made it all worth it. So, how could we not be happy remembering this theme?

No existe nada que me de más orgullo en la vida que ser venezolana, soy 100% nacionalista y siempre voy a amar a mi país por encima de todo y de todos. Sé que estamos pasando por momentos muy duros y nuestra tierra se está deteriorando , por aún así me aferro a la esperanza de renaceremos de las cenizas y nos levantaremos más fuertes que nunca. Así que escuchar e interpretar este tema para mi, es algo sublime, algo que me llena de felicidad, de motivación y de ganas de seguir dando todo lo que tengo para dar por el país más maravilloso del mundo, que la verdad no sé si ciertamente es el mejor país , pero es MI PAÏS y eso es suficiente para amarlo y ser feliz en él.

Tocar ese tema en la orquesta si que no fue tan complicado, fue una de las primeras que aprendí y su interpretación es bastante sencilla, pero aún así siempre es una gran satisfacción para mi tocarla una y mil veces más.

There is nothing that gives me more pride in life than being Venezuelan, I am 100% nationalist and I will always love my country above everything and everyone. I know we are going through very hard times and our country is deteriorating, yet I cling to the hope that we will rise from the ashes and get up stronger than ever. So listening and performing this song for me, is something sublime, something that fills me with happiness, motivation and desire to continue giving everything I have to give for the most wonderful country in the world, which the truth is I do not know if it is certainly the best country, but it is MY COUNTRY and that is enough to love it and be happy in it.

Playing that song in the orchestra was not so complicated, it was one of the first ones I learned and its interpretation is quite simple, but even so it is always a great satisfaction for me to play it again and again and again.
