En el pueblo de Pelopolis, el hambre comenzaba a hacer estragos en su población, la sequía se había afianzado desde hacía más de dos años, el tiempo transcurrido y la falta de recursos manifestaba para cada persona el sentimiento de decir "estamos casi extintos".
Es por ello que en la iglesia el párroco convocó a los fieles a qué expresarán su pesar por lo que estaban viviendo y que se prometieran a cambiar sus malos hábitos y egoísmos para lograr la misercordia de Dios. Con ello y con fe verían que en algún momento Dios se apiadaria de ellos, viendo renacer la esperanza y la abundancia entre ellos.
Sabían que no todos verían el resultado de sus plegarias, solo los más confiados a cumplir con las promesas inculcadas por el sencillo párroco, lograrían alcanzar la victoria y el perdón prometido.
