Wool Festival

In a village far away from prying eyes, there were factory-like facilities designed to create products from a certain material, wool. The raw material, obtained mainly from sheep, was then processed by machines and human hands to produce wool products.

At a certain time of the year, when Christmas was just around the corner, all the products accumulated during the year would be put on sale and anyone could buy them. As the products were of very high quality, their price ended up being quite high. On some occasions, the last 10 products were auctioned as part of a special collection and were especially expensive.

The problem is that, behind the wealth formed by these fine wool products, was the overexploited labor force. That which had been sold or rented, and also, abandoned to their fate with the promise of fulfilling a contract and their eventual freedom. Most of them were young people with no future, sold by their parents.

There were many mouths to support and somehow the family burden had to be lessened. Sell one or two children, at the same time, make a profit and survive the harsh reality. Even if that meant sacrificing a few for the benefit of the many.

Selfish, evil, unforgivable, inhumane, many words come to mind when hearing such a story. Although, this story has been recreated in a few minutes, it is a truth, out there, in various corners of the world, this happens. Most don't know or pretend not to know. We can't reach them, we can't see them and possibly, we can't save them?

Every year, there are wool festivals in many places at the same time, they keep reproducing. They produce money, dirty money. It's lucrative for those at the top. It has become a law, a kind of natural concept. Whoever disobeys, gets the same fate as a moth flying into the fire.

They burn, and the question arises: To burn or to be burned slowly?

Until someday, someone, something. Save the lives that are about to be lost, while others will be irretrievably lost.
