Nothing I Own - A Short Poem
There are things
I refuse to own:
The cat
In his world;
The dog
On her mat
In the shape
Of a bone.
Nothing I value
Is mine alone—
Just stuff to fill
A middle class home.
And now a plague, and
Tomorrow unkown—
Making a mask
from fabric at home,
Scared,
Defenceless,
As a flood
In a storm…
How easily life
Is overthrown.
