What a lovely way to repurpose things! Flowers make anything and everything more lovely!! And how amazing that you can get such a wonderful variety of blooms during the Winter period too.
Do you know what the reason is that the basins are no longer used for their intended functions? Are they abandoned shrines?
It started about 4 years ago when Corona hit this region here too. So to avoid people getting to close they repurposed those basins at some places or closed them off at others. In our main shrine they have been keeping the flowers in some of the basins but now people are allow to use them for its actual purpose again as well. As you said, they look much nicer with flowers so I hope they will keep them forever!
Yes it would be lovely if they could find a way to continue using them the way they were meant to be as well as keeping the flowers...
Aaah yes, covid - obvious. I did not even think of that!
Japan seems to be taking a bit longer to get back to normal. Some things will never be as the used to, but well... live goes one!
Indeed it does and we just have to ride the wave :)
