Did anyone say mushroom? =/= Hat jemannt Baumpilz gesagt?

There's always something to discover in the forest, even in places you've passed so many times before. Somehow everything seems to be constantly changing in the forest, sometimes as if you were seeing it for the very first time. Of course, it also depends on the time of year, how and in what guise the forest around you presents itself and what there is to see. Whereas in winter you often come across bare trees, in summer you are surrounded by dense, green leaves that rustle mysteriously with every gust of wind.

What particularly fascinates me in the forest are the many types of mushrooms that can be found here. And they don't just grow on the ground, but often directly on the trees themselves. Tree fungi colonize both living and dead wood and are sometimes even edible. But whether edible or inedible, harmful or useful - the variety of these special creatures, which are not classified as plants, is quite large and unmanageable for laypeople like me.

But despite this, or perhaps because of it, I enjoy all the different shapes and colors of the mushrooms in the forest, park and garden and am always amazed at how unusual they can sometimes be.

Im Wald gibt es immer etwas zu entdecken, und das auch an Stellen, wo man schon so oft vorbeigekommen ist. Irgendwie scheint sich im Wald immer alles zu verändern, und wirkt manchmal so, als sähe man es zum allerersten Mal. Natürlich liegt es auch an der Jahreszeit, wie und in welchem Kleid sich der Wald um einen herum präsentiert, und was es dort gerade zu sehen gibt. Wo man im Winter oft auf kahle Bäume trifft, umgibt einem im Sommer dagegen ein dichtes, grünes Blätterkleid, was bei jedem Windstoss ganz geheimnisvoll zu rascheln anfängt.

Was mich im Wald besonders fasziniert sind die vielen Arten von Pilzen, die man hier findet. Und diese wachsen nicht nur auf dem Boden, sondern oft auch direkt an und Bäumen selber. Baumpilze besiedeln sowohl lebendes als auch totes Holz und sind manchmal sogar essbar. Aber ob essbar oder ungenießbar, schädlich oder nützlich – die Vielfalt dieser besonderen Lebewesen, welche nicht zu den Pflanzen gerechnet werden ist ziemlich groß und für Laien wie mich nicht überschaubar.

Aber trotzdem, oder vielleicht gerade deshalb, erfreue ich mich an all den verschiedenen Formen und Farben, in den die Pilze in Wald, Park und Garten daherkommen und staune dabei immer wieder, wie ausgefallen diese doch manchmal sein können.

As I said, with most mushrooms, and especially with the tree fungi, I often have no idea what kind of specimen I'm dealing with. But as I usually don't intend to eat them anyway, I don't have any further concerns. The time when I was "out on the mushroom hunt" is long gone, although I do remember one or two mushrooms that you could probably put on your own plate.

Wie gesagt, bei den meisten Pilzen, und vor allem bei den Baumpilzen, habe ich oft keine Ahnung, mit was für einen Exemplar ich gerade zu tun habe. Aber da ich meist eh nicht vorhabe, diese zu verspeisen, stellt sich mir da auch kein weiteres Problem. Die Zeit, dass ich mal "in den Pilzen" war, ist schon lange vorbei, obwohl ich mich doch an den einen oder anderen Pilz erinnere, welchen man sich wohl auf den eigenen Teller legen könnte.

I have heard that there are also some type of tree fungi that can be eaten without any problems, but I would be rather careful myself. The tree fungus in the last picture looks a bit familiar to me but I am still not sue where to place it. Even nowadays, I find it quite difficult to identify them and I prefer to leave it to the mushroom experts, who are probably more knowledgeable. I myself just look and gaze and enjoy what I get to see in the forest. And the next time I pass a mushroom growing on a tree, I might stop and take a closer look at it again. Then I'll probably smile and go on my way, enjoying all the beautiful nature around me. That's why we come to the forest, isn't it!

Das es auch unter den Baumpilzen einige geben soll, die man problemlos verspeisen kann, habe ich schon gehört, aber ich selber wäre da eher vorsichtig. Bei dem Baumpilz im letzten Bild haben wir es mmöglicherweise mit einem Zunderschwamm oder Baumschwamm zu tun. Auch in der heutigen Zeit fällt mir die Bestimmung recht schwer und ich überlasse das lieber den Pilzkennern, die sich da besser auskennen dürften. Ich selber schaune nur und staune, und erfreue mich an an dem, was ich im Wald zu sehen bekomme. Und wenn ich das nächste Mal an einem Baumpilz vorbeikomme, werde ich möglichweise wieder stehen bleiben und mir das gute Stück ganz genau betrachten. Dann werde ich wahrscheinlich schmunzeln und meines Weges gehen, und dabei all die herrliche Natur um mich herum genießen. Deshalb kommt man doch in den Wald, nicht wahr?!
