Is it cheating? Reference in drawing- Update #9

Hello guys,

Here is the line work for the last panel of Shades Of Men's new page.

And the original thumbnail.

But how did I end up drawing such a beautiful rifle? You might have guessed from the title. I cleverly (or not) used a reference.

So is that cheating? You tell me...
The way I see it, I'll do whatever it takes to tell the story. That is my main goal! As long as the reference doesn't stand out too much and that it matches previous design, I'm happy with that.

I even heard of artists using 3d render to achieve tricky perspective! Something I haven't done... yet.
So what is your take on it? Waiting for your comments below.
