"SLC | S22W3 : Teacher self-evaluation using SWOT analysis technique"
If I talk about my personal opinion at self evaluation of teacher after implementing SWOT analysis techniques then personally I believe that it's most valuable tool for educators so that they may reflect their strength,their weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats too!
SWOT approach is useful for enabling teachers for identification of their areas that can be improved by leveraging their strength and capitalisation of their opportunities so that they may grow with time. I believe that after using and implementing this analysis teachers can develop a good understanding and know how of their teaching practices, professional development goals as well as better understanding that what their students are actually demanding from them!
SWOT analysis according to me is a reflective phenomenon due to which a teacher can make teaching more effective, students overall outcome can also be improved and ultimately it will also build more confidence in teacher so over all it is fostering promotional growth and benefits for both educators and students!
If I talk about valuation of teacher activities then by using this SWOT analysis following are my strengths and weakness personally I have find out in me!
Strengths
• It's my strength that I have a grip at my subject which is physics related to their deep concepts.
• It's again my strength that I can deliver very clear message and concepts to my students because I have experience in teaching field.
• Its my strength that I have a very good ability to design my course outline so that throughout delivering lectures I remain very engaging with my class and students due to proper alignment of curriculum.
• It's my strength that I have very good skills of communication that's why I can break down complex physics mathematical derivations in simpler form for my students.
• It's my strength that I remain in touch with technology during my lectures through multimedia resources so that I may keep class more engaging and active.
Weaknesses
• I consider it my weakness when I personally feel that at something I am feeling it challenging to keep needs of every students equally and to fulfill their needs but still I tries to be fair but it's an area need to improve in me
• I can see there poor assessment and traditional assessment methodology as my weakness which include just organising causes or exams for students but I think there should be advanced methods I need to develop for assessing that either students are cramming my subject or developing their mind set for actually knowing concepts of physics deeply.
• I consider it my weakness when I thought that I need to remain very active so that I made updated about latest teaching and learning physics methodology so that I may refine my methods of teaching with advanced techniques.
If I talk about evaluation of my teaching activities by using SWOT analysis techniques then following are the opportunities and threats I find out;
Opportunities
• I find out an opportunity of development of online courses and their resources due to which I can reach more and more audience and through which I can provide my students more easiest engaging and flexible opportunity for learning.
• I find out more opportunities of collaboration with colleagues of college that were from other department and were not of my subject so which open opportunities for me related to research and interdisciplinary courses as well.
• I find out more opportunities of attending and getting involved in professional workshops conferences and development seminars through which I can remain up to date about best teaching practices and can also enhance my personal career.
• I find out more opportunities internationally for collaborating with international colleagues by getting involved in students learning program.
Threats
• It's a threat for me to have a very low or restricted budget for purchasing new equipments, resources as well as softwares that can have negative effect at my teaching quality.
• It's a threat for me anything change in curriculum because it will be very time consuming for me to get in depth knowledge at changed curriculum by revising all new concepts.
• It will be a threat for me if size of class continuous to grow because it will become red that how can I manage giving attention to each and every student which will also effect learning outcomes in a negative way.
• If I talk about last thing which is thread for me then this is increase in online courses and resources can effect strength of students and enrollment in classes which can effect schedule of teaching so this is also need to consider.
If I talk about some of my follow up plans and my priorities after conduction of SWOT analysis then I will follow the following critical actions:;
• My first priority will be for my students to provide something to them due to which they may remain engage in course and they may give a very good outcome so I will create practical tutorials and interactive simulation for supplementing my teaching and surely students will also find it more flexible learning options and opportunities.
• If I talk about my second priorities then it will be depending on me because through my creativity and my personal research I will try to design more advanced assessment methods for my students so that I may assess that either they are learning the concept or they are just cramming.
• I talk about other priority then it will be all about enhancing engagement of users by implementation of those strategies that are helpful for increasing motivation and participation of users like group activities or think pair share activities.
• I talk about another priority then it will be playing my role in attending maximum workshops, conferences and motivating my student to attend all of them so that me and my students all will remain updated about best up to date practices going on in my field physics.
I believe that by giving priority to these actions I can enhance my teaching strategies effectiveness and I can also promote learning and engagement of students and great final outcome of students.
