Hello everyone, good afternoon to you all and welcome back to my blog. I so glad to be participating in this Educating Contest, all thanks to the Teacher. It was an amazing class.

Determine the topic of the mini research for your students and why the research needs to be done by the students? 1 point

So we're in the Technology age, were literally everything is gotten from the Internet and Social media. So I choose a topic which is a source of major concern in the World today. And the topic of research is "Dangers of Social Media and Internet Addiction amongst Youth.The Social Media and Internet is good for knowledge, Education, Business and Entertainment but the youths most times overuse it.

The research needs to be done by the students for the following reasons

• They're youth and the research topic greatly concerns them and I feel they would learn more conducting the research themselves.

• Secondly, this research will enhance their reasoning and make them think more critically, thereby doing more than what they learn in the classroom.

• It will also help them to understand the dangers and consequences of Social media and Internet addiction.

• Finally it will also empower them to educate their parents, friends about this topic.

Formulate a problem or two, then develop some relevant interview questions to answer the problem? 1 point

Problems

• The Overuse of Social Media and Internet is causing overdepedence by youth. The youths no longer do things themselves, they resort to the Internet for literally everything.

• It is also affecting the youth negatively, it makes the Youth prone to so many Social Vices like Pornography, Violence, Drug abuse e.t.c.

Interview questions

• What are the main reasons why the Youth spend so much time on Social Media?

• What are the negative impact of Social Media on Youth's Academic life, Mental health and Socialization?

• Have you or someone you know dealt with Social Media addiction, what was the experience?

• What strategies can be employed to reduce the excessive usage of Social Media amongst Youth

• What roles do you feel Social Media Companies needs to play to curb this to the barest minimum?

• What role can parents and educators play in order to curb this Social menace?

• What are the potential consequences of overuse of Social Media and Internet?

Assign your students to conduct research using the prepared interview questions and observe every activity the students do, sharing photos and videos during the activity? 3 points

To do this, my students printed questionnaires and shared to their fellow Students. We also used the Social Media for this research, I asked my students to post these researches questions in their various group chat and ask their peers questions.

These were some of their findings.

• Academic Challenges

Social Media makes Youth lazy and unwilling to learn and do Assignments on their own because they know that the Internet is always at their beck and call.

• Physical health impacts

Too much use of Internet has been associated with some ailments like Insomnia, Obesity, Migraine and Eye problems.

• Strain on Relationships

Overdepedence on social media has caused so many people to focus all their time and energy interacting in the Internet thereby resulting to spending lesser time with family and friends.

• Unrealistic Expectations

The social media portrays fake wealth, beauty, fitness and lifestyle which can lead who doesn't know to low self esteem and unnecessary comparison.

• Peer influence

They also discovered that friends play a determining factor in encouraging Social Media overuse.

• Mental health issues

They discovered that the excessive use of Social Media has been associated with anxiety, depression and loneliness

Negative Social behavior

They also found out that the youth learn many anti Social behaviors like Homosexuality, Premarital sex, Substance abuse from the social media.

According to your observations, what are the weaknesses of the students during this research, and what are your steps in developing their analytical skills in the future? 2 points

Some of the weakness of my students during the Research includes the following.

• Inadequate Control

So because they were talking with their mates,
Obtaining information from them was quite challenging.

• Shyness

At first, most of them weren't Confidence enough because this was their first time of doing this but they later came along.

• Inadequate note taking

At the initial, the students struggled with taking notes and their materials sufficiently thereby leading to some difficulties.

• Inadequacy

Due to the fact that it was their first time of doing this, some of them struggled with some of the methodology.

• Lack of Motivation

At a point when the research was a bit difficult, the students started losing motivation

My steps in developing my Students analytical skills in the future?

• Practical

I would practice more of Practical teaching inorder to enhance their reasoning.

• Encourage critical thinking

I would ask them questions that would make them think critically.

• Encourage multiple Approaches

I would advise them to analyze problems from various approach.

• Use real life experience

I would incorporate real life scenarios in my teaching
