PROCEDURE

Making the Body

In this arts work we use a formula to make the work beautiful and has the shape you want. So with this one I will use 6. Implying that every cycle had be 6 beads.

  • cut the twine to the length you want
  • Pour out the beads into a working plate to ease your work
  • Bend the twine to into two, so that all the two edges are held
  • Pick up 6 beads and put in to the twine
  • Hold the 6th bead and pass the other end of the twine (like crossing the twine into the beads) and pull down. Now you have a circle of 6beads.

First circle of 6 beads

  • Continue by adding 5 beads by putting two on one of the twine and two on the other side and cross the 5th bead. At this point you will have another circle of 6 beads.

Note once you cross a bead,it because the 6th bead of the last circle and the 1st bead to the next. That's why you add only 5 beads in tbe next.

  • You can continue to the length you want and the size of the flower jar. With this one I made 9 circled before joining
  • In order to join you put two on any side you want and pass the same side to the first bead on tbe first circle. Then add two more beads while crossing on the 2nd one.
    At this point you have a round shape and to continue;
  • Pass the twine into one beads
  • First at 4 beads while crossing on the 4 beads since there are already 2 beads (where you crossed after joining and the one bead you passed the twine into)
  • To continue, now you pass one side of the twine (the one which comes inside after crossing) fill 3beads on the other side ( that which goes outside after crossing) while crossing on the 3th bead. Continue till where the line started
  • To end the line pass into 2 beads as usual and into the first bead on the line and add 2 more beads.
  • Begin a new line like the previous one and end if the same way. You can make as many line as possible depending on the height you want. But with this one I made 10 lines

Forming the rose

  • Begin as usual taking a new line but now you don't pass in to a bead before filling the beads. Instead as you ended the last line fill in 5 beads while crossing on the 5th bead. This gives 6 beads
  • Now continue passing into one and adding 4 beads till you come where the line started
  • Begin a new line still with this format but using size 6 beads (smaller size) to the end too
  • make the next line with the size 12 pink beads to the end using the same format. A beautiful rose is been formed at the top

Bottom section

  • For this part it is done just like the top forming a rose but just two lines with the first line having 6 beads per circle while the second has 5 beads. Using 5 beads makes it smaller than the top. It should not be large as the top.

Final product

Making beads has become a passion for me and I really enjoy doing it and teaching others. In this light, I am organizing a training in one weeks time to train internally dusplaced women from the Anglophone regions of Cameroon on how to make beaded accessories in Yaounde. My aim is to create employment, improve living standards of these women, generate income. See poster below on various trainings
